I bought this on the forums from @longcruise , he made it himself. It has been his personal bow for quite a while. Here is the link. Said it's made of red elm.

Here are some pics of my first shots with it as I received it today. It is 66 inches long.

This is the first volley, I watched carefully which arrows flew poorly and set them aside. My arrows are spined for my recurve which draws about 62 lb. But I also have a bunch of arrows that I just found and are randomly spined. This bow is about 44-45 lbs.

These arrows flew pretty well. It's probably my third or fourth volley. It started raining so I didn't get to shoot much more but I was pretty happy with a 5-inch group the first day I ever pulled out a bow with non-matched spines. This as at about 20 yards. For my draw length (29") it is pretty smooth. The grip fit my hand very well and required no adjustment of technique. Longcruise makes a pretty fine bow.

Glad you are enjoying that bow. You seem to have adapted to the longbow pretty quickly. Not surprised having seen you do some pretty good shooting on another topic!:)

The only adjustment I had to make was canting the bow a bit.

Looks like you're getting it dialed in! Love the camo job on that bow

That camo job was almost accidental but it did come out pretty good.

@longcruise Got the strings that you sent me. Having a brace height that doesn't slap my wrist is a big improvement.

Missed you at Cascadia GTG just past. I brought my also-new-to-me longbow. Quite the launcher. I have no idea what weight but I seem to draw about 27" and can hit the target at least. I'm in the very embryonic stages here. I always wanted to get into archery, but only recently did.

Maybe you can make the Summer GTG that I'm perking on... or, a meet-up on the your side of the hill this season....

Would love to, I have summer vacation going from school so I should be pretty open schedule wise.

Back in 1972, my first bow was a Wing Archery Company recurve at 45 lbs. It was short and hard for me to master. So after many disappointing weeks, I traded up for a Damon Howatt longbow at 60 lbs. It was truly long measuring 66 inches. I had little difficulty consistently hitting 5 inch diameter bulls eyes at 20 yards. I sold this gem of a bow in 1999 when I fell off a ladder and broke my elbow badly. It never healed properly so I made the giant step to a crossbow by Hunt Master which was the name of the company before it was changed to Ten Point. This crossbow had the limbs replaced at the factory a few years ago as well as the internal trigger device. Ten Point has a very excellent warranty program.

it's a bummer that you hurt your arm but I'm glad that you're getting back out there with new equipment.

Longer bows are more forgiving of technique and easier to shoot for sure, I liked the quietness and smooth feeling that longbows give.
