This will be the fourth of these we have put on and it is a real hoot!

    Paging @bobc @Wolfcri @NJHeart2Heart @GreenFrog @hdlv @JV3 @Medic17 @alukban @Sweeneyguy @NVRDONE @adkwalker
    @MommaJ @Sbrody

The meet will be on Saturday, February 10th from 10-4, though folks are more than welcome to show up earlier.

We will be meeting at the community Presbyterian Church of Chester, NJ, where I serve as Pastor. www.cpcchester.org for directions.

We will have chopping blocks, green wood, and plenty of space.

Everyone please bring something food-wise to share for a communal meal. We have an amazing kitchen so things that need to be heated or baked are welcome.

Trade blanket is always welcome, and there will be tool display/show off/ play with tables.

This is kid friendly and beginner are welcome as this is a time of getting to know one another and learning a bit about carving, though some members just show up to hang out!

Great! I'll be back in my own apt this time so I'll be able to cook something up. Maybe butternut squash empanadas... or maybe I'll go a la @GreenFrog and pick something up on the way! :D

Only wish I could attend but the distance for me is too great. Looks like a great time with some good folks and the fellowship should be excellent. Best wishes to all in attendance!

I just heard form @bobc , who is also an avid traditional archer. He will likely be bringing some arrow to work on during the meet.

Please feel free to just come and watch, or work on anything crafty during the meet. I carved and axe handle during the last one, and might do the same in February. Feel free to work on bark crafts, weaving, sewing, anything you would like to send time on!

I'm bringing a dozen arrows for fletching (installing feathers) and cresting (painting the arrow shaft in different colors)....I will also have my bows, both the recurve and longbow, along with my elk hide "Lakota" style side quiver, possibles bag and arm brace for show and tell......

the feathers are going to be spliced...that is different color feathers combined to form one feather....and the full length (8") feather is "chopped".....shaped by a high tech device into the feather shape.....I will save some feathers for splicing that day.....I'm excited to be able to share this craft.....

and don't forget our communal lunch.....if you're coming, please bring something tasty for the group to share!!!....our lunch is half the fun of the gathering.....Pastor Chris has a commercial kitchen so things can be heated up etc.....

Great. If it’s not an issue, I may need to do a video shoot of the process so I can teach the members of my school archery club that I help run.

OK, I"ve got this on my calendar and, at the moment, I'm free to go.

I just renewed my fuelwood permit at the local State Forest. My intent is to head out over the next couple days and drop a tree or two 1. for some carving fodder and 2. for some stock to make some carving stumps and horses for folks that may want to make one, but don't have the material.

    I'll update more closer in.

Outstanding @Sandcut ! The carving wood will be especially welcome, I'm not sure of my timing for getting some cut by me.

Alright everyone, we have run into a SNAFU with the Church calendar. It seem that the Boy Scouts will be doing their Pinewood Derby on the 24th, the day we scheduled the meet and they get precedence because it is a big deal for them.

I have added a poll to their thread about two alternative dates, both Saturdays; February 10th and March 10th. We are penciled in for both.

    Please respond to the poll:
    2jka

    CuriousLearner
    hdlv
    JoeMez

I will make a decision soon.

Looks like either works. The March one will mark the start of spring break, but if I choose the February one I might be able to bring the pass around Jaakaripuukkos along so everybody could give them a try. Oh the decisions! Why not both?

Something seems wonky with my bcusa stuff. Never got the shout out, but just visited with BobC and he told me of the date change.
Just so happens that a required adoption workshop we were scheduled for on the 10th got moved to the 17th so I am
    RSVPING YES to FEb. 10.

    Looking forward to the fellowship.

Hi I’m brand new to the bcusa and certainly new to the community but I am
From New York and have been hoping to meet new like minded people and I do love me some wood working. Besides bringing food is there any precursors to attend this meet up? Like am I supposed to be in a group or be friends with the people attending? I am not shy and willing to make friends. But I am interested in attending.

Hi....there are no precursors...just come and enjoy yourself.....we are just one big group of bushcraft type folks.....Pastor Chris has a commercial kitchen so we can heat things up....lunch is one of the highlights of the day.....where we all get together and enjoy the food and companionship......We meet in the church auditorium..... Chester is a straight shot on Rt. 80 West to exit 27A....straight into Chester.....Turn left at the light onto Main St...and to the Church on your right....we look forward to seeing you there......Bring some knives and gear...we also have a trade blanket going......

@bobc I live in throggsneck right at the border of westchester. I have property in McDonough in Chenango county and primarily bow hunt Rockland Westchester so I’m all over but I reside in Throggs neck in the Bronx. And thank you pastor Chris excited to be able to engage in the community so fast and be accepted by all

I may be tentative, I'd enjoy attending. Let me check with the wife...she may also be interested in attending.
