    Winter camping is not for everyone, and it is always nice to get together, so I am scheduling the sixth Greater Chester Metropolitan Area Bushcraft USA Green Wood Carving Meet and All-Around Get Together!

    Saturday, February 16th, 2019 from 10-3 or so.

    This is done at the Church I serve as Pastor. Directions can be found at www.cpcchester.org

    Much more than green wood carving.

    I usually set up a few chopping stumps and supply plenty of fresh green wood for carving.

    If outside I will bring over our fire pit for atmosphere, cooking, and easy disposal of scraps.

    We should also have a gas grill available for cooking as well.

    People of all skill levels are welcome to attend as there is plenty of knowledge and tools to share/try out.

    Others have brought things to demo like fly tying, arrow cresting, birch bark crafts, all sorts of things.

    Of course there is the food. Everyone is encouraged to bring something to share though that is certainly not a requirement. The kitchen is available to re-heat things. Chester Meats is also only 1/2 mile away on Main Street for goodies and we have some great restaurant in our little village, though most people eat the communal food-fest in the kitchen.

    Please peruse the previous event threads linked above, offer your opinions in the thread, tag others I might have missed.

    RSVP at the bottom of this post if you can make it!

    American Brother Outdoor is really looking forward to this event! We're relatively new to the BCUSA community and are excited to meet and learn from other members of the community. We are currently a company of three and we are all planning to be there.
    The American Brother Outdoor partners are: Dan, Susan, and myself (Carl). We're based out of Hamilton, NJ and are looking forward to meeting BCUSA members right here in our home state!

    so i'm thinking about our group lunch, where everyone brings something...hot or cold.....i feel that the lunch is one of the highlights of the day where we all get together and break bread.....i usually bring my buffalo chicken dip, but this time around i am going to go with something more healthy.....i will be making a large pot of chili with chips.....Pastor Chris has a commercial kitchen so we can heat up our dish and refrigerate if needed.....maybe a dessert too.....i'll give that some thought.....

    Hi All! Just want to give a big thank you to @Pastor Chris for welcoming me over yesterday for several cups of delicious black birch tea (picture below) and lunch at his home afterward. We had a great discussion about the BCUSA community in general, and I now have some ideas about how I will get more involved. I hope to see all of you at the meet on February 16!

    I'm glad that you reminded me of this!

    @AmericanBrotherOutdoor @Philly-Billy @HalfTreaded @Pastor Chris @bobc @ChocolateSpatula? @alukban @hdlv @turtlepwr281 @TrailJack (hopefully I didn't overlook anyone)

    Do any of you all have any food allergies, dietary restrictions or aversions to be aware of? I'm planning on bringing jambalaya and maybe another dish, I will take any food allergies, etc. into account.

    Thanks!

    Anyone know what the nearest train station is to there from Hoboken, or if there is bus service from the Port Authority?

    The closest station to here is Peapack/Gladstone, but not sure what trains on your end might come to that station. We would pick you up from there no problem.

    @hdlv might have more insight.

    I think Dover is pretty close (or at least it's the only satiation I've used), you can catch a train from penn station or Newark/Penn.

    I am leaving from DUMBO Brooklyn on SAT AM with my son @hdlv and @JerseyDevil22 .

    I do have room for both of you but my kid won’t give up the front seat ;)

    Contact me via PM if you want a ride so we can coordinate departure/pick up location, etc. :dblthumb:

    We have a few in the freezer, but we are eating them as fast as I can shoot them, and I can shoot them pretty quickly! We will see what next weeks weather holds. Pretty lean time of year.
