Central Ohio here, just outside of Columbus.
N.E. Ohio, 35 minute's South of Cleveland!
I've got family down there. Plenty of places to practice some bushcraft.
I'm in Columbus.
thats pretty close to me
Yep very close Iam in lafayette twsp, a few from seville, brought my last few Dodge's in Wooster!!
Any Ohioan's care toplan a together??? Not found many that what to pratice and share skill's around me.
im game fo a get together
Let's try to get something going on this Chris.
I'm down for a get together.
Let's get something goes that is convinent for all, some nice wood's, and skill's sound's like a plan to me!!
not shure where to go?
Count me in.
I typically head to places like Lake Hope SP, Zaleski SF, and Wildcat Hollow in Wayne NF. These are all in the Southeast near Logan. Anywhere is fine with me though--just throwing out suggestions.
Zaleski is a great area.
If memory serve's is Logan near Lancaster? Old Man's cave??? have not been there since the late 80"s, Not sure what the wilderness area's are like, and can folk's hang out and practice?
Logan is about 20 miles southeast of Lancaster along route 33. The Hocking Hills/Old Man's Cave area is very crowded on weekends.
Lake Hope and Zaleski are the same area, just different designations.
National Forest areas
Andy, i do remeber those area's very crowded back then I have not been in that area since the late 80"s, the other's look interesting indeed!!!
I'm from Holmes County and I'd be up for a get together.
Amish country, Great cheese and other yummy's there, My Grandfather lived in Fredricksburg! Welcome, and let's get something going!
Well I'm open to just about anything, let me know.
Knox county here.
Another good place, and centrally located is Woodbury wildlife area in Coshocton. 19,000 acres with lots of lakes and woods, beautiful area.
Well guys I'll check out Woodbury's campground next week and let you all know what it looks like.
Woodbury's campground is only 8 spots first come first serve, no water and one porta john.
Then it's the perfect place to practice survival and bushcraft. I never stay in the camp grounds anyway i trek along till i find a good enough spot and rough it.
You can't camp in the woods there it's against the law. Besides I don't think I'll trek through those woods with archery season coming up.
Hi guys. Just joined up here and was advised to take a look through this thread.
For my $.02 about place to get together and so on, Shawnee State Forest might be a good place to try. It has camping and trails and woods out the wazoo and so on. The only real disadvantage to it would be location... and maybe the deer hunters.
Hope I'm not out of line to offer up a suggestion so early on in my stay here. Just an idea. Sounds like fun, wherever it winds up being.
I know this thread is really old, but I thought I would check in anyway....Josh in Elyria (10 mins from Lake Erie)
Cleveland hts. , not too far from the lake.
Logan, Ohio.. southeastern ohio. in the hocking hills.
No one from Dayton around these forums? Really surprised.
Born in Dover...grew up in Sherrodsville... lived in and around the Cleveland area for 10 years... Live in Indy now but will always be a Buckeye...
AK Spray, I am from around Dayton.
Erie Co. Have property...Firefly Festival and Mosquito Swat my place next July,
all are welcome.
I am a newer member that has been mainly reading (lurking) and am in the SW Ohio area, about 30 miles east of Cincinnati.
NE Ohio, Ashtabula. Just got stationed here this summer.
I'm down in Fayette County, Ohio. Columbus, Dayton, and Cincinnati are all about 1-hours drive away.
I have to echo my fellow Ohioans (Andy) comments on Lake Hope SP, Zaleski SF, Wildcat Hollow in Wayne NF, and Hocking Hills. Zaleski and Wild Cat Hollow would be the best because they are less traveled and seem better areas for practicing bushcraft. Lake Hope is also very nice and serves me fond memories. Hocking Hills is beautiful to say the least but way to busy and commercialized any more.
Hayo! moving to Cincinnati next week
Logan Ohio checking in!!
hocking county, in the sticks.
North Canton checking in.
Welcome to all my fellow Ohioans... keep checking in the subforum, and we'll try and get a spring gathering of some sort sorted out.
please let me know of any events scheduled. I'm in NE Ohio
Life long resident of Grafton in Lorain county. Am new to the bushcraft concept but am trying to learn what I can.
North east ohio
This sounds like a good idea, stark county ohio is where i'm from. All state parks and wildlife area in ohio have a fire ban, except camp grounds. What fun would that be to camp in a camp ground. You can't even pick up fire wood in state parks, dead or alive. So if you suggest a place keep this in mind. We need to be able to collect wood and build fires. thanks.
Stark Co. here!!
