wondering if anyone owns one of these and knows where i can get one preferably in oilskin?

I like the simplicity of a haversack as my day bag but need to switch from single shoulder carry

I've been using a simple drawstring gym bag but its time for a change

    Something on this idea?
    308 Single Bag Knapsack $189.95
Colonel Todd, in his work American Military Equipage, published by the Company of Military Historians, states that this knapsack is one of the most common confederate issues. We came by a near mint original knapsack of this type and have used it to copy our reproduction.

This knapsack is a large single bag. There is an inside divider made of cotton bed ticking (blue and white) which stops just short of reaching the bottom of the bag. Two shoulder straps make an "X" on the back and go over shoulder and attach back to the pack. This knapsack is provided with overcoat straps (blanket straps) to enable one to can carry a blanket rolled up on top.

    Size of this knapsack 16 1/4 " wide X 16 3/4" Length X 3 3/8"deep.

Might check out Panther Primitives ( http://www.pantherprimitives.com/ ) I know they have oilskin fabrics (52 inches wide - $25 per yard) and oilskin haversacks.

Paint it with a mixture of 3 parts gloss black latex exterior house paint and 1 part boiled linseed oil. Mix well. Give it 3 or 4 coats letting it completely dry in between coats. It will give the cloth a flexible but completely waterproof rubbery coating. I’ve been using this for over thirty years with excellent success.

Have you looked into getting one of the surplus M37 packs, and waxing it? You may have to figure out some shoulder straps for it, but it would be very close to the knapsacks above.

    hello,
@Corso I checked with a possible supplier in Glasgow today with whom I did a trade sometime ago for waxed Barbour jacket material. I was given this possible link of interest in Dundee (Scotland) http://www.waxedcotton.com/contact there's no harm in asking. :)
    Regards
    David

I think I'm being missunderstood - my 1st pic was an example of the 'net not something currently in my paws

I was hoping for a suggestion re where I could buy something like I'd posted up

I've tried frost river before and even an M37 pack - both are rather heavy
