Well I made a stupid. I was standing in my "man cave" room of the house talking to the girlfriend, trying to scrub something (sap or corrosion or something) off of my firesteel with an acetone rag. As I'm talking to her I'm seeing that the rag isn't working, so I grab the striker and start gently scraping the stuff... without putting down the acetone rag. Yea. Genius. Well the rod sparked and lit my rag, which got dropped on the carpet. I threw a towel over it and smothered it out, but still got a nice melted spot on the carpet and an unhappy little woman.

    So... watch those concentration lapses!!

Ouch! :56: She'll never let you live that one down!

Time to re-carpet the man cave- I'd use the commercial carpet tiles that you can pull up and replace as needed.

Sure it's that easy indoors. Try it as a "man in the creek" drill.

Let me get this straight....she was actually IN the Man-Cave? What the.....? That's 2 (count 'em, two) Bushcraft de-merits for ya---one for the first oops, and the other for the other. You must repent, go now, quickly, and recite Ray Mears and Mors Kochanski 10 Commandments. Google it! :16:

Many, many, many year ago, I lit a cigarette while holding a glass of Everclear. Burned up the bedspread and the hair on my arms. Then there was that time with the matchstick pipe bomb in my bedroom...

Acetone is dangerous stuff...almost as bad as Everclear.
Glad you didn't burn your house down.

I wanna laugh but I feel like it's wrong to laugh. But that right there is why I have renters insurance. Because while I am safe with fire stuff. My neighbors are idiots.
