Hey folks, I bought this Opinel Carbone off of Amazon, and it came with what looks like a tool of some kind? It's a short aluminum shaft with sharp metal tip. Was this intentionally placed in the package, and if so. . .what is it for? IMG_0187.JPG IMG_0188.JPG

That's what I was thinking, but there was no mention of it in the description.

I tried to unscrew it, it seems permanently bonded.

Then an arrow for the pocket crossbow you carve with your knife?

    I don't know. :4:

It looks like a generic kubotan, although it’s short.

Huh. . .I had to google "kubotan". . .maybe I guess. @Wasp got me thinking, I'm now starting to think it part of Opinel's ninja line.

Here’s a few examples of kubotans if anyone wants to compare. They’re basically a metal stick with a pointed or blunt tip. The styling varies greatly.

In all seriousness, maybe its a "blade key" to help opening the blade when its difficult?

Amazon moves an amazing amount of products each day. Given the complete lack of care and attention my packages seem to receive, I’m guessing the mystery prize was completely accidental. It could even be a tactical hairpin that fell into the box unnoticed.............kinda like the surgery horror stories of people being sewn up with tools and cellphones still inside.

I think it might be a "pen" for writing on an electronic device screen.

That was another thought of mine, but the "tool" came in the same little Ziploc bag as the knife, which suggests to me that it came from Opinel. I don't see it being a tool to assist in opening the knife either. . .it seems to be a packaging error.

It's from the factory. It's included so you can poke both eyes out and not have to look at that ugly &^%$#@ Opinal. :18:
Seriously, I see no use for it.....at all.

It looks like it could be a bolt to use with a slingshot, but it's probably a part of something bigger that will surprise all of us if the mystery is ever solved.

Pretty much what I'm thinking, especially since nobody here seems to know what it is. I shot Opinel a query. . .we'll see if they respond.

I know a guy who put a pencil through his hand with a DIY crossbow. I can honestly say that I could see that guy having this exact conversation...

I believe that is a scrawl. Basically something for scratching guidelines into material like wood or g-10 or metal etc.
