I bought an Opinel while I was in france. Good quality little piece, I was impressed. For the price it is a good all around pocket knife.

So mine shipped with a delivery date of 9/27 from the UK. Postage must have been more than the 11.90. The good thing is I will have forgotten by then and it will be a surprise.

    Back to $11.90.

Combine it with a (on sale right now) $10 Old Hickory and $30 CRKT Woods Chogan, you can outfit your tribe for about $52 a head.

I picked one up a few weeks ago, already rolled the edge a bit in places but it is easy to clean up. I wanted to see what its capabilities are. Great knife though, I will keep it around for light duty work.

This knife looks a little fragile where that metal ring attaches to the wood handle since it's not full tang and all the force is concentrated in that short area.

That's more of a question then a statement since I have never seen one.

The Opinel is the French version is a utility knife. They've been around for over 100 years and all of the pressure is still on the lock and pin of modern folders. Use it for its intended purposes and it'll last you for years to come.

This is a light duty slicer. :) Not designed for heavy work at all. I have heard of people really beating these up and actually battoning with them, but that just ruins them.

Use them for kitchen duties, peeling a stick for marshmallow roasting, stuff like that. You won't find a better pocket buddy for the price. And at that price, if you lose it or give it away, you won't lose any sleep over it.

To add to what @gohammergo said, some people convex the edge to help prevent rolling. Just think of if as a secondary knife for when your in public or it doesn't make sense to pull out your 4" blade sheath knife.

Mine will likely end up in a camp kitchen box but it’s one of those curious things I had to try out. I know many people love them and they have a long history. I don’t usually beat up my folding knives anyway, I save that for purpose built knives.

I carry my Opinel around the farm 24/7 now, a little bulky for city carry, but works great out here.

I showed the Amazon page to my wife and she said I was going to get you one of those for Christmas. Man I am just ruining good presents this year lol.

When it shows a different price, scroll down and click the used and new link like at the bottom of the picture.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B002SCUO04/ref=mw_dp_olp?ie=UTF8&condition=all

    And you can see this

Then click on the one you want like the one for 11.90

    I hope this helps.

GOD Bless you and your families

This is actually a very important point you make here. Most people are aware that Amazon is a marketplace with additional third party sellers but this is almost a hidden layer on their website. Amazon has the feel of any other online retailer but it's actually a bit more like eBay. The "X qty new and used from $Y" link barely registers. It takes a moment to recognize that they've actually curated a list of buying options and made one the default. They take a number of factors into consideration when deciding the default option. Shipping time is given high priority which "coincidently" means that Amazon themselves will be much more likely to be the default seller (no surprise there). The default buying option may be the cheapest, but not always!

This also has some impact on ratings of some products. Sometimes, a particular seller has been selling knock-off items and this drags down the ratings. It's not the typical experience but it's something to take careful note of.

eBay has recently introduced a "group similar listings" feature which I assume works somewhat similarly, though their metrics for the default seller may be very different depending upon what makes them the most money. It's one thing if you know what you want, don't care to shop around quite so much, and don't sweat a few percent overhead relative to the best deal. But when every dollar counts, it can't be ignored.
