With the interest in the Otzi style knives lately I am sure a number of people have been searching the forum for each of them that has been made. I thought I may be able to save some people time searching by putting them all in one place to feast our eyes on. I tried to give each maker their respective due credit (hopefully I didn't make any mistakes). Please feel free to add more examples I may have missed or you have made.

I hope this doesn't offend anyone, if it isn't appropriate or wanted mods please feel free to delete.

I have no idea how to work with metal and no idea where I could go around here to work with metal. I went out to try and find some flint with no success. I'm planning on making one of flint as soon as I can find some.

I have quite a bit. I think I have had it about a year now. It's got a sharp toothy edge that's very useable.
I get a lot compliments on it by folks seen me carrying/using it. Thanks

I may be wrong but that first pic of the MP Knives otzi with blood on it was taken by Croatoan? If so, might want to give credit to him. If not, please delete!

Yes he did take the picture I believe, I was trying to give credit to the makers in the thread however if you scroll over or download the picture I did put the name of the owner/photographer in the title when possible (ie. pic title: MP Otzi Knife- Croatoan). I hope that is satisfactory for the photographers, if not I can go back and edit for photo credit.

Glass otzi comeplete with broken tip from being thrown in the dirt and thinking it would stick. It is my assumption that this is how it must have happened in history :4:

I have a mahogany obsidian point that I bought at the Dixon's Muzzlooading Fair more than 10 years ago and finally decided to turn it into an Otzi knife. A big maple branch recently came down in our yard after a recent storm so I used a bit of that. I had some woods time today so I brought the point and the handle and some jute twine. I collected some pine sap along the way and made some glue with crushed charcoal from the fire. The point is glued in the haft, bound with twine, and then the twine sealed with more glue. I might try it for skinning some squirrels when small game opens. The sheath will be next.

Well Done ! that looks as good as any I have seen- is that sinew wrap with epoxy coating? How did you accomplish the grove patterns and what did you use as the donor steel- it looks like a real user!

figured I would throw this one on too. Its sort of Otzi-ish made from a ceramic paring knife blade with knapped edge. It was real cheap, easy, and fun project. Very handy as well I use it a lot.

It is artificial sinew wrapped with epoxy over top.

I had given the blade pattern to Red Elm and he cut this one out of 01 with a 3" tang and gifted the blade blank to me after heat treat. The grooves are just made with a round file. I split a piece of wood and cut out the tang profile, then epoxied together.

It was a fun project for sure, and it will be a user.

nice guys....Steve does that one cut very well? made another one today with finer teeth like yours but still isn't all that great of a cutter. working on a round blade one with no teeth and it is defly sharp....can't make curls with it. Just have to figure out a handle for it.

I commissioned forum member and all round 'good guy' Adam B to build me a version of the 'OTZI' knife. I supplied a 5,000 year old piece of English Bog Oak for the handle, and all the work and idea's came from Adam...these are also his 'update' pic's he sent me.

The blade is made from chert, so it's not a cutter like an obsidian blade would be. It's a 'basket maker's' knife and does fairly well on grasses and light fibers.

The sheath was made by Skab.

You had a number of great ideas with this. And I got to build it.

Working with the bog oak was really a pleasure. Quite unlike anything I've ever used before.

IMG_2630.jpg IMG_3086.jpg My two from Reed Fred. They, especially the sheep horn scaled one, have become my favorite knives for many reason. Surprisingly adaptable little blades and Ive proven that to myself by processing an entire deer from filed to freezer a couple weeks ago with the sheep scaled one which has a tapered tang. Only required one quick stropping to get the job done. Thats some fine heat treating for 1095.

Made this one awhile back. The blade is from an old crosscut saw blade.
Very pleased with this little knife.
