There was a thread started by @Rammer in the Missouri regional forum about having a get together in the Ozarks.
The dates of march 31st through April 2nd have been tossed out as a good time and we have a general idea of using the noblet lake recreation area as a camping area. There is distributed camping below the dam. Our own @dkgoesmo has posted up some great pictures of the area below if anyone wants to see the area.
This is obviously open to any one that wants to make the trip, more the merrier as the saying goes.
I will throw up the rsvp deal on this thread so folks can speak up and say if they are in.

Since we have to bring our water in I would suggest we don't hike 3 miles in to camp so it will be easier to transport gear. If you all want to decontaminate your water from Noblett Lake for consumption awesome. As far as me I am packing my freshwater in with me. So I will be looking for a spot where I do not have to drag my gear a farther distance or have to walk 3 miles to go get water. This also allows those who want to go hiking on Saturday to do so on a now available 6 mile loop. In short I am bringing my 25 liter camelback full of freshwater - Yes I said 25 liters and she is a BEAST. Me personally, I will be camping near the beginning of the Trailhead on the trailhead Interior.

Concur on the fixed campsite. For those that can't or choose not to hike. There is a Camping area on the hilltop that has 12 sites(in a loop). There is also about 12 more at a site below the damn (also in a loop).

There is a drinking water spikot at the day use area. I'm not completely sure it will be turned on by the time we plan to camp. I have used the water in the stream below the damn many times, sanitized of course. So water collection should not be a problem.

Also for those of you happen to have a small boat (trolling motor only), canoe or kayak. There is a put in next to the damn and a parking area that will accommodate boat trailers. There is usually some decent fishing on the back side of the lake. Just FYI

Ok cool! I wasn't aware of the camping below the dam. Makes things much simpler.

Yes there are some great sites down there, right next to the stream. If I remember correctly the trial is ver close by also. I think it would be a good central location for everyone. Especially if there are folks who do not or can't make the hike.

That and although my guys could make the distance on the hike, it would make things a little tougher.

Looks to be a good get together. I already have a commitment for that time frame so will be unable to attend....but encourage folks to attend these when they can. Getting together with like minded folks is down right enjoyable....

This sounds great. I would like to come down with my two teenage kids (13 & 15). This will be our first BCUSA meet and our first time to the Ozarks! Going to bring a canoe and try to knock out some of our bushclass stuff there also. Any tips on what we should bring would be greatly appreciated. We want to run this trip kind of minimalist to give the kids a bit of a challenge.

Look forward to seeing you & yours.
Just fyi, as I didn't post it earlier. At the campsite below the damn the stream does tighten up quite a bit. Depending on water flow. However the lake itself is always good.

If you need to pick up any food stuffs coming in. There is nothing closer then an approx 30 min drive. Willow springs has a grocery store. West plains does have a super walmart and several grocery stores.

There is plenty of downed wood in the area for campfires. But of course you may need to scrounge further away from the camp sites.

I hope to get out there this week and snap some pictures. So everyone will get a better idea of what to expect. The entrance sign is back off the main road an can be a bit missleading, will also snap a pic of that. Plus I want to get a outing done for Bush class.

Any question feel free to ask.

I would recomend extra clothes and bedding. Bring chairs. I will bring a couple of folding tables, one long and one small square. I will have 1 extra mss if anyone wants to test drive it. Probaby going to bring fishing stuff for the kids and I. Um, food, snacks, drinking water or you can boil, cooking tools, pot and or pan, skillet, bacon...
Make sure your food box is secured, probably have racoons about. Hmmmmm. I am sure there is more, I tend to overpack and then forget stuff like my headlamp... lol!

I will bring a couple of kayaks (just walmart specials). If anyone wants to take a spin on the lake. I usually set a few fishing yo-yo ' s on the stream when I camp. They are handy for setting/checking those also.

Will we have access to our vehicles or will we be hiking our gear in? The answer to this will decide what I am packing (or more importantly, NOT packing). My kids and I are very excited to go... Wife is staying home and wants to know if there is cell service (she worries...lol). Personally, I hope not! Thanks, Aaron

From my experience, using us cellular. I have decent service on top of the hill above the camp on the stream. Down at the camp hit and miss. Although sometimes text will work down there.

As far as the camp if I understand correctly. we are camping at the fixed sites and then day hiking. I may be wrong tho. The camp sites have access for vehicles at each site. The camp area used to be a pay per night camp run by the forest service. They are no longer, or maintained. They are now considered "dispersed camping" and there is no charge. Hope that helps

Hey guys, I know we are a good ways south of you but its been a long time since we've been up that way and we have kinfolks we could stand to visit in Mountain Home, AR.

So if you don't mind, we'll plan on joining you. Me and the wife so +2 if you don't mind.

Showing close to an 8 hour drive so we'd get there about noon or so on Friday and leave mid morning on Sunday.

Hmm just a quick question and I can leave it home if need be but this is a Forest Service Rec area right? Not any type of federal national park. So you can have a conceal carry while there ... correct?

According to the article below you would be governed by state law. Missouri is a constitutional carry state.
    https://www.usconcealedcarry.com/concealed-carry-in-parks/

I would recomend of couse that you conduct your own research, but my opinion is that you are good to go.

So I looks like most everyone will be showing up around noon? I might be there between 7-9 am

We are going to be as early as possible, but, travelling with kids can present scheduling challenges...

So you will be arriving off AP highway. It is on a hilltop and can be easy to miss. If you are coming from the south it will be on your left. The entrance road is paved. The sign your are looking for is about 20 yards off the highway. This is the "main road".

There is a dirt road across AP from the entrance.

.8 miles down the main road will be your 1st right. This will take you to the day use area, 1/2 mile down.

Day use area. Bathrooms, pit type.

Water spikot to the right, still turned off.

Just past the day use turn on the main road on the left is the way in to the old cemetery.

.2 miles down the main road past the the day use turn is the upper camp ground entrance on the right.
Just past the upper camp ground entrance on your left will be the Ridge runner trail, Noblett trail head.

.7 miles down the main road from the upper campground entrance the road will T. Left will take you to the lower campground. Right goes to the dam and boat launch.

Awesome DK... BTW how far is it from the closest parking area to the lower campground that we suggested to stay at? The reason I ask will vary what I bring or even and most especially how much I am bringing. Also, I was thinking also if any one has any experiences and would like to lead a class or discussion.
