Beautiful boat, looks very seaworthy. Build it yourself? Stitch & glue? Glass the whole exterior? How much does she weigh? I grew up with rowing dories and currently own two so I really appreciate seeing another row boat. Thanks! :1:

I bought this boat off C-List from a guy who's father in law built it in 1989. The man had passed on and the family was selling some of his things. They had no interest in basic living and things built with love or passion, I can tell you. I have since sold it and have seen it on the water. It is stitch and glue, fully glassed in and out and built like a brick house, but weighs only 150lbs. He used MDO (sign board with that Kraft paper finish for smoothness) 1/4 ply on the strakes and 3/8 on the bottom, which is flat with some rocker and a skeg keel that is called a key keel that can be dropped through the bottom and left home. I have many pics of the boat if you are interested or you can Google it. Some of my pics show incredible loads with two guys as well.

The gentleman spared no expense of time fitting this boat together. I surveyed every line to the millimeter and found nothing unfair. A very fine rower, but it needed a dagger board installed for decent upwind sailing performance, or a paddle over the side. The tiller is a thru hull at the stern seat with an offset tiller - norwegian style.

Here's a pic from today , we had an ice storm this morn and are expecting snow tomorrow. Two weeks ago the lake was covered in skim ice , it cleared with the warm last week. I figured this May be one of the last for the season.

Ugly Sticks are great , I have that one in the back of my Jeep almost all year. I have caught everything from bass to trout with it. I caught a perch yesterday , probably last fish of the year , or at least until I can get out on some ice. I use a heavier one for saltwater from my dad's boat down on Long Island. The only thing I don't use one for is surf casting.

Here are a couple of pics from a three day / two night paddle two friends and I took on the Au Sable between Roscommon and Mio in February of 2013. It was a blast. I wore the only waders I had, which were stocking-foot. It was below zero at night, so the boots were not usable after I took them off the first night. You can see then in the front of my yak in one of the pictures. It was something like -9 when we broke camp at 8:00am on the final day. The river had huge chunks of ice floating on it, and it was like paddling through a slushy. One of my greatest camping memories ever....

This is the Vernon Marsh in Southeastern Wisconsin... It's a huge, hidden marsh with only a very tiny channel leading to it off the Fox River. I've taken 3 people here, and all 3 times I told them to keep their eyes peeled for the channel into the marsh and all 3 missed it. Unless you know where to go, you'd never know there was a whole other world back there. There is a labyrinth of reeds that you can paddle through for hours... days even. The handsome stud in the bow is Lucky the Canoe Dog, my loyal river companion.

    Bud's First real canoe trip.

Took Bud on his first real paddle a coupe days ago. At first he was a little nervous, but he got into the swing of things pretty quick.

I love my outriggers! Makes it a whole lot less stressful to have a novice dog in the canoe with me.

    Cheers!

Warmed up to 60 degrees yesterday, and I had some beaver damage to survey. I broke out the old town pack canoe that I have not used in ages. It was a good thing as there was still plenty of floating ice that could have torn up my bark canoe....

Great yak! I have one of the solo versions of the Excursion. Not sure if yours is a solo or tandem. If it is a tandem, how do you like it? Been thinking of a tandem and I love my solo in that model.

No it's not a canoe or a kayak, but it's a river dory drift boat - and a Willie Boat to boot !!
My business partner's new drift boat at the Willie factory in Central Point, OR.
After a treacherous 23 hour trip to pick the new boat up in the most severe winter storm that this part of Oregon has seen in decades, we are proud to add this sweet ride to our fleet.

Stay tuned for new vinyl graphics with full ride pro-sponsorship !!

Here is one of my favorite images taken from my canoe...

Pictured is Lucky the Canoe Dog, and he got up on the seat to get a better vantage point of a large swan that was sunning itself in the middle of the Vernon Marsh in Southeastern WI. The marsh is an amazing place to paddle. The entrance to the marsh is a very tiny channel off of the Fox River... Ive taken 3 people there, and all 3 times I told them to keep their eyes peeled for the channel, and all 3 times they did not spot the channel. Once you go down the channel, it opens open into one of the largest freshwater marshes around. There is a ton of waterfowl in the marsh, and it has a labyrinth of reeds that you can paddle through for hours. Just when you think you've reached a dead end, you see an opening in the reeds and it opens up into another channel... Amazing stuff.

    Life on the Suwannee River.

One winter my wife and I found ourselves in Florida with only a thousand dollars to get us until the next seasonal job, which happened to be three months away, so we bought a Oldtown Penobscot and spent the whole time living on the historic Suwannee River..it was a hell of a lot cheaper than renting some crappy apartment.

I have an Ocean Kayak Trident 15. So far, I have kayaked parts of the Sangamon, Illinois, Salt Fork, and Embarrass River in Illinois. This is a picture from the Sangamon as it flows into Lake Decatur.

The Sangamon River cuts across Central Illinois. During his younger days, Lincoln is said to have worked on a raft on this river. I have always enjoyed it. sangamon.jpg
