I just have to ask, what is the difference between the Gossman Survival Tool and my vintage Schrade Honesteel...I am not looking for a debate just a simple factual response....thanks in advance.

The old Schrade hone steel has a abrasive coating on it. The Gossman tool uses the abraded steel from how it's manufactured to actually do the sharpening. The Schrade hone steel will wear out over time whereas the Gossman tool will not. And if for some reason the Gossman tool started to lose its effectiveness he could throw it back on the belt grinder for you to renew it.
