Most of the rough work is done. Still more carving to go for a simple mixing spoon.

So... Was really digging this woodSET. It absolutely handles like a champ and took a lot of abuse. I was busting through logs and inch or two longer than the blade, swinging and slamming like a crazy man.

    2018_0625_18042400-01.jpeg

I grabbed a bit of wood out of a bag, and had a rare lapse of attention to detail and found myself batoning into a few rather long, obnoxious industrial staples....

    IMG_20180625_120324-01.jpeg

Ouch. Well, that certainly was a bit of rain on my parade. Since i was on vacation, i did not have a robust sharpening kit. Just a D4 and a strop. Which probably would have been fine, but taken hours....

Back to Amman and broke out the supplies. Some 80 grit paper, 240, 800, 1000, 3000, 4000 stones, and strop.

    Right as rain!

Holy crap a knife user who takes responsibility for messing up his knife and then fixes it himself! Nice one! That stuff sure makes the belly sink when it happens!

Also, about as comfortable as they come and no slouch on looks. I almost forgot to mention the sheath, which is beautiful. HOMERUN team Sargent!!!

    J Leather Ti Spike:

I mainly use it as a stir stick, or a fid or marlin spike to help me untie knots. It has also helped remove some stuck embers from a few friction fire hearths... the uses are as wide as your imagination.

My wife wants it for a hair clip piece ...

I just realized I posted this in the wrong thread previously, sorry about that.

I think I'm going to have to remove the LL Bean tag from my anorak and sew on my SET patch.
