    Thanks buddy,
This was my grail knife, took me almost a year to get it within reach and then @VanGo happened!...lol
An epic bidding war and she finally came home! This one is on the list of things to grab when the house is on fire...after the kids but before the dog, does that make me a bad person?

Brother, I’m just proud to be a part of it!
We showed up in the rain, at sunset, in sub 40* temps. No complaining or moaning was heard, just excitement! Saturday consisted of a fire starting challenge, a woodsman first aid class, survival shelter building, tomahawk throwing, archery, and finished up with a 5 mile hike into NC! I could not be more proud of my boys, can’t wait for the next one...we are shooting for 1 weekend trip a month.

By no means an original idea but wanted to see if i can do it. Saw Fowler do it on Alone. Anyway, here is my "proof of concept" (as I like to tell my kids) of a wooden water bottle. I still need to make a cork and has a small drip but still perfectly capable of water transport....not necessarily storage. My goal will be the latter but will continue to play with this one. I think Fowler had a reverse twist of his cotton shamagh strands for the seal....i used some bees wax that I try to carry with me (for a million uses). I waited to long to bind together and the wood dried out. not a tight a fit as I would have liked or think I can get in the future. Also, it cracked a little due to pith. I think it should swell a little with some water in it and hopefully help out. Just playing and learning what I can and can't get away with. @Skab @Sargent

LOL....thanks Brian. Undeserved high praise from the man. Just a guy mostly in his back yard having fun and trying to develop a few skills. "Real deal" are those out there living it. Would love more time in the woods or to be homesteading but demands of family and work life don't currently permit but my time will come Lord willing and the creek don't rise. Wouldn't trade being a part of my kids lives for the world. In the meantime, I love archery, knives, carving, guns, hunting, now bee keeping, etc. and do try to get as much of it in as I can without pissing the wife off too much. Can't wait to try out some of your beavers/carvers - upcoming sloyd and puukko....it aint easy carving a bow drill divot with a serechete. ;)

Win or lose, just getting them out there is a victory. It's wonderful to see the young ones interacting with nature and liking it.

I’m thinking about doing a stag primitive with it!
I’m having a hard time finding stag long enough though, I can only find it 3 1/2” long. If I left an exposed pommel it would look good, otherwise too short.

I like the subtle texture on the brass as well. It gives it a neat look in my opinion...

Posted these on IG but the need to be here as well!

Without out a doubt some of my finest woods tools. Tested and proven over and over. I can’t say enough good about them and their maker. Top shelf. They have chopped and spilt all kinds of wood for fires, skinned out and butchered game, made shelters, dug in the ground, carved, notched and shaved wood and one has accompanied me into several very non permissive environments on more than a few occasions.

Yes sir, for a red oak it’s a good size...about 90’ tall and 7-8’ at the base. Certainly nothing like y’all have out west though..there are a few like that in my yard, mainly the reason we bought the house. You can change paint colors and build on if you need to but your only getting mature oaks with patience!

Hope your doing ok out there buddy, we’ve been praying for y’all...

I have to admit that I was very reluctant to buy a $300 machete....i am very glad I did. I don't own a machete that will chop as well as the serechete. Almost makes yard work fun. Did 4 fork loads of waste today and most delimbing was done with serechete in addition to cracking a few coconuts for the dogs. Gonna whale on some bamboo next weekend.
