30 below with lots of snow, but at least I have my cup of joe...and a knife made by someone you might know...
"ArmyMacE" If you ever want to get rid of her please hit me up.. I'm probably not the first to ask you that though...lol
Some quick initial thoughts on Solutrean after a couple weeks of use - VERY good one knife option. Though it is not an apple slicer, it certainly handles all I need it too. I wouldn't consider this a chopper so much as a very well balanced large knife...its chopping ability remains impressive with its forward axe-like grind and heft. The rearward scandi is great for notches and some smaller draw knife work. Centered tip makes a great driller. I wish I had some game to cut up and suspect the leaf shape convex would be pretty awesome. Couple quick pics illustrating -sharpness after some heavy use -tent stakes...one was less than a minute to make and the other 1.5. You can almost chop a tip into it. -fire board of course I am still getting to know the solutrean but suspect it shall earn a permanent role in the line up.
Received my M3C from Brian today. The blade and finish are is exceptional. Scales fit my hand like they were made for it! Sheath is impeccable like all of his work. It’s just right. Not too small, not too big, it’s just right. Can’t explain it any better. I’ll put some more photos in the M3C post. Thank Brian.
Still cleaning up and fixing storm damage from last weekend. Big island had something crazy like 180mph wind on mtn top. Our snow level was down to 6100' feet of something like that (unheard of....lowest ever recorded). Tree branch fell on the roof. Used peanut butter knife just as I had hoped I would and intended for this kind of stuff (all around use). Made a wooden dowel to pound blocking in roof joist back in place. Cut away loose drywall and caulk. Loving this blade.
