Yep Rio Rojo is amazing.
Dang! She’s a beauty! That Rio Roja is an amazing combo. Congrats!
Personally I don't get it at all. I'd rather have a wood handle set any day.

Ready for another adventure...
Should be a really cool weekend... in da shop! Not sure yet if I should use both horn and Ti or just Ti and karelian birch? Anyway, time to get my hands dirty!
Wish I had a truckload of that birch!
Wish I had a truckload of that titanium.
Funny thing... years ago when I was making occasional Ti gadgets like backspacers a buddy offered me ‚some Ti scrap pieces’ of various thickness 0.100”, 0.150” and .200” and price was mostly related to shipment cost. I almost forgot I have it... today I rediscovered my Ti treasury! Most ‚scraps’ are like 15x7 inch size, two biggest pieces are almost 2x1 ft (yes!) in size, and on top of that I have a Ti ‚brick’ which is in a size of a standard brick! So something like 3” by 5” by 12” or so. I don’t even know what to do with that brick! Amazing find
I drew that knife on a white board and it stayed there for over a year. It didn’t originally have the 1/4 round or hump but a leaf shaped blade. Damien, tracker, tracker, tracker, tracker, I thought, it couldn’t get any more silly than putting a chisel ground 1/4 round on top. One day the kids were going to erase it so I made this pattern by tracing it through plastic. That’s what was used to make that knife.
Next step - grinding tang to the back to allow front plate installation, making that actual plate in Titanium, drilling & filing the hole, rounding and beadblasting. Filing flats on the tang for flush fit at the front. Man, that took more time than I thought...

Serious question; is there any better leather than SET leather?
No. His leather sheath hold the knife like kydex. The knife literally snaps into the leather.
Can we start a group buy on this?
I'm in if it were to happen.
Nice piece of fat wood!!
@Sargent Compadre necker for this outing. My middle daughter loves the Matilija for whittling practice.
Bone primitive matilija coming up!
 I'll send you my address
That’s a standard pattern sheath. Should be smaller. Hope it stays put.
Awesome, wish I was there again.
There should be a lot more of this in life. I get wiser in teeny tiny little steps. Communication is a gift for some people. There should be a lot more teaching and time spent with kids in this country. I’m guilty as the next.
There was a story out of California where 8 and 5 year old girls were lost less than 2 miles from their house and they survived 44 hours until they were found. Now God's grace and protection was certainly around them, but they had some survival training from their local 4H club. We spend as much time as we can outdoors trying to teach our daughters that bushcrafting and survival training isn't "just for boys.“ They each have their eye on one of my SET from @Sargent as they get more comfortable with edged tools. Thankful for you Brian and your skill brother.
snug as a bug.
best thing about your leather is the ease with which you can reform/tighten the fit. i threw it in the oven, melted the wax, formed it around the knife. so nice.
How warm an oven and how long?
I set it to 350, and threw it in during preheat for a few minutes. Its dangerous though. I'm easily distracted.
A hair dryer on high for a minute or two has the same result, without the potential for catastrophe.
I’d better stick with the hair dryer.
My intro to SET was during this time... what year is it?
Thank you @Angelgutter!
Got it profiled and the wrap started. Now I need to figure how to wrap the pommel area...
This is where I called it quits for the night, having a real job sucks!
Looks killer, like the way you changed up the hole pattern!
That's awesome. Have a couple blanks heading my way. Cant wait to try making some handles.
Setfinger on a hike today.
And now... my puukko is finished! Schaftol is MAGIC for wood finishing. Thanks guys for making this project happen.
Great work @PiterM ! That handle is fantastic! I want some!
Ooooo a rare unicorn in the wild!
I knew the continuous curve made a difference in curls but didn’t realize how much. This thing effortlessly bites and feathers this maple. Now I want to make a Persian sword ulu. I’m blown away.
Curls for the girls!
Just a cheesy double sharp pic...
Still hunting a Compadre.... looking great guys! I love that 'punny' picture @Phantom X !
Playing with the Setfinger.
Love this knife.
Fatwood shavings to start some lump, for some brauts on the Weber, and a nice IPA. Sunday it be. Cheers all.
Just arrived in the mail today. Stunning craftsmanship!
Compadre a go go. It made the rounds, got cleaned up after much abuse and found its way to my hands.
Looks so much better with the micarta roughed up.
Awesome, good to see it put to work!
