It’s all maple, 50 years ago they still made round ones but because of all the wasted wood they stopped.

That’s my favorite and only one that’s round.

A mountain man option for carrying my primitives. My beard grew 1/2 inch and a black bear ran into my basement when I got it.

Your SET collection has been motivating and has helped get my collection dialed in- this primi may be my favorite. Brian is doing some great work.

You have a few nice blades yourself. I always wanted a Matilija with kydex, sadly I cant seem to steal one from the shop.

I can easily say, that my Sargent Primitive is the best knife I have ever owned.

[IMG]IMG_2736 by Brian Sargent, on Flickr

I recently read an article on some great knives, great maker but with a different mindset. Differential heat treat for durability, chamfered spine for carving. Both great qualities in a knife. Most people I know, esspecially those into primitive skills will carve for hours with sore thumbs on those hard edges. This pic is a good example of not all sticks are fuzz sticks.

Tell me about it, it's been a battle. There is a lot of room in there too. The upsweep has me upset. Think after a bit you'll get the muscle memory or send it back to have the tip chopped off!

Lol. I’ll keep practicing until I get it down or until that tip eats away enough leather in there that there is nothing left to grab!

Revamping our hobo hut. M1 used for wood processing. Yesterday they had a homeschool Marti-Gras party and my son hasn't taken the mask off since then. Two of my girls are wandering around the woods somewhere off camera.

I'm going to be auctioning off this knife very soon. It's a SET WSK in Rio Rojo and cpm154 steel. It's built shelters and started fires. It will also handle any Sunday night dinner prep.

Cpm154, surprised by the edge considering the use it's seen. The geometry was pretty ideal.

Days. Lost of firsts. First big tapered tang, the 1/4 round was a first. Hand filed, sanded and polished. Grind took hours. Handle was completely hand sanded out. 4/5 times longer than an M3 at least. I could do it a lot easier now but then it was a big deal.
