Here I will be posting photos of knives as I make them as well as WIP photos. I am by no means a photographer, but I hope you all enjoy following along.

I'm finally back in the shop after 2 and a half months. It has been far too long. Righ now I am currently working on a custom piece for our very own @M.Hatfield. Mike designed this knife himself. He calls it the Flathead. Mike drew inspiration for the design and name from the Flathead River Vallety in Montana as well as Fillipino style knives. This knife is going to be a beast! At 3/16" thick and 10" overall, this CPM 3V knife will be able to handle most anything that is thrown its way.

Here are a few early progress shots of the knife.

Here is a photo of Mikes Flathead before it's final handle polishing, and a few random photos around the shop.

Got some good stuff coming down the pipe here shortly. I've got a bunch of handle scalesgued up and ready to be matched with some steel. I also have a batch of 4 Boat Taill Puukkos almost ready to be listed. I also have a Flathead, Fife, and Ranch Hand almost finished. 3 different new models in this line up so far. I also have some Bog Oak and tapered tang goodness coming up.

Bog Oak Ranch Hand and Bocote Fife. The Fife needs a rehandle because I failed to line up the bolsters.

I don't have any names for these models yet, but I'll get there.

Finished one of my prototypes this afternoon. Still no name, but this beauty is 3/32" Nitro V with bustterscotch burlap bolsters and desert ironwood handles.

Out of curiosity, what would the price point be on the desert ironwood handled one? I've been thinking about getting a nice all-around knife lately and trying to decide what I want and what works best (I'm a little green still :)).

I'm honestly not sure what I will be pricing it at, but I think it'll be somewhere around the $200 mark. The bolsters add a lot of time and difficulty.

Not the best day in the shop. My double bolstered scales were a catastrophe. The angles weren't right and the fit and finish wasn't quite there. At least my bead turned out. I'll give the scales another try in the morning.

Trying this bolstered set of scales. Ditching the double bolsters for now (I am out of blue burlap). The glue up is going to have to wait until the endo of the week because I'm going to be out of the shop deer hunting.

Last night I spent the evening working on some new designs. Not all of these sketches will turn into actual knives, but I think a couple will. Which ones are your favorites?

I'm long overdue for an update post. I've had a lot going on in the shop recently. I traded a Field & Stream in Bocote and OD scales for a pair of Abel fishing pliers, but I didn't get any finished product photos of it. I had three Fifes in D2 that I heat treated yesterday, but all three of them warped beyond repait so that is a minor setback. I have designed a bunch of new models so I'm slowly making prototypes. I'm also working on hand filing serrations. I'm not the biggest fan of serrated or partially serrated blades, but I think there would be a benefit on my new backpacker model. I can see the benefit of serrations for cutting synthetic material.

    Here are some photos.

Here is what I'm most excited about. It is my new "ultralight" model called the Backpacker.

The steel is S35VN, a steel I've not used before. The handle is carbon fiber with aluminum pins. I have rounded the edges of the tang and made the scales overlays to reduce weight and keep the thickness down. The knife weighs in at 2.55 ounces and feels great in the hand. I think the next knife will have serrations to see how I like it and to see if they are actually functional.

    Here are some photos.

Spent the morning taking the GRE for grad school, but made it down to the shop for the afternoon.
I heat treated a few O1 blanks, ground and acid stonewashed the second Backpacker, and started some tapered tang projects.

Today I finished up my second Pronghorn. This one, like the first is in Dester Ironwood with an OD canvas micarta bolster. This knife also has a wickedly tapered tang and is in S35VN with an acid stonewash. I hope you enjoy.

Got some new carbon fiber today. It is blue resin with bronze lightning strike. Here it is on a Backpacker in S35VN.

Here is what I've been working on the past couple of days. It is a new model, this one had a 5" blade.
This particular knife is a custom piece for my cousin. It is 3/32" Nitro V with OD G10 handles and orange paper micarta bolsters. It is somewhere between a varied and full height convex grind. With unfinished flats. I hope you all like it.

@tarzan I have some older photos of the Companion that I will post here for you shortly. I do not have the specs with me at the moment, but I believe the blade is 3 1/4" and somewhere around 7.5" overall. I'll get some new photos and measurements posted up here soon.

    Good Evening Everyone,
It has been quite some time since I last posted in here. I have been busy with Grad school and now I'm busy with a new job. I'm going to throw up a bunch of photos and subtext in this post to update you all on what I've been up to the past several months. So let's just get right into it.

First up are a couple of in use photos of a couple of my personal knives.

Here is my Boat Tail Pukko doing garden duty. This one is one of my hard use work knives. It has a great patina and takes a wicked edge with little effort. This is one handy blade!

Here is my Backpacker doing what it does best! Cleaning fish and harvesting morels.

Now is the time for some of my "recent" work

First up are two knives I just finished up for @MichaelBear These knives were several months in the making and they just arrived to him today. I am grateful for his patience with me. He got a naked Fife and Backpacker. I believe we will be seeing a review or two in the coming weeks!

Here are a few projects that I'm working on now. These are two new models that don't have names and I'm not sure when I'll finish them. The on the left is going to be an all around outdoor blade. The sharpening notch in the blade will be sharp and act as a fishing line/paracord cutter. I'm not sure how it will work out, but I have high hopes. The blade on the right is my take on a bowie knife. It is my first stick tang, so it will be slow going until I figure out how I want to make and attach the handle.

Here is a photo of all the in progress blades on my shop table. A few of these have been finished since the photo was taken, but the majority are still in the works.

Here are some pictures of the backpackers that I'm working on with the addition of a custom wharncliffe that I just finished up and shipped out.

The Backpacker is my favorite model to make. I don't what it is, but this knife is just fun to make. I especially like drilling the holes in the tang. I like feeling how light the knife gets as each hole is drilled.

I have decided that I want to start adding some jimping to the spine of the Backpacker. I am using a 3/16" chainsaw file to file in the jimping. The round scallops are grippy but not aggressive or uncomfortable. I am sort of trying to model the jimping CRK uses on their Nyala. I don't have any photos of the jimping yet, but I will take some tomorrow and post them up.

And the last image I have gets me caught up with all that has been going on in the shop. It is the finished product of the wharncliffe custom I just shipped out. I'm not sure if I'll make anynmore, but I think it turned out great. I hope you all enjoyed these photos and my shop updates.

Outstanding workmanship evidenced in every photo.
I love jimping, and the way CRK does it is my favorite, so great choice on the Nyala to model yours after.
    Great looking designs and execution.
Big thanks to @MichaelBear for his review which led me here.

Just finished up a custom piece today. It doesn't have a name, but it is pretty wicked. It is in acid stonewashed S35VN, with carbon fiber handles with red and white liners.
Now it is time for me to clean up the shop and get started on some more Backpackers.

Work has me going out of town for the rest of the week. Because of that I didn't have enough time to get started on some new knives tonight, but I did have time to clean the shop and boy was it needed!

I've got a secret project in the works right now. This blade will probably stay in my personal collection. This is a design that everyone has seen before, but with a twist. Stay posted, I'll keep this thread updated.

It isn't finished. The scales still need finishing and I'm waiting on the correct hardware to arrive in the mail. This guy is gonna be sick! I think I'm gonna make a set of desert ironwood scales for this one too

I was lucky and got Thursday and today off work. I've spent most of my time down in the shop prepping orders for shipping and getting some S35VN Backpackers made to fulfill some orders.

The batch of Backpackers in S35VN should be finished by Sunday, and ready to ship by early next week. After I finish this batch I'm going to get to work on a special order. It involves damasteel and Marvel..

Still trying to figure out removable handle scales. I'm having some difficulty getting everything lined up properly. Progress is being made, but it is slow.

Here is the latest set of removable scales.. there is a tiny gap between the scales and the tang of the knife, the spacers are not lining up properly with the drilled holes and it is causing some offset, I think I need to re-level my drill press. This set of scales is also misshapen, I accidentally took off too much material in a couple spots and the symmetry/fit and finish is not there.
    Back to the drawing board.
