Depending on which pin hole it is you can save it. Make it a 3/4 tang or half tang, could weld a rod onto it and make a stick tang.

That is a good idea, unfortunately it was the uppermost pin on a tapered tang. Not enough meat left to modify it. Ughh

Either way could work. Might be smart to post a 'teaser' picture here at some point and see what kind of interest it garners. :D

I think it is a wonderful design. I love the blade shape, and it should make a great EDC. I would actually be very interested in a version that was slightly stretched out. (I have very large hands). Maybe a half inch on the blade/handle for me and it would be perfect.

The drawing above is a new model called the Alpinist. A sort of skeletonized modern take on an Otzi knife.

Have you had a chance to try out a Backpacker yet? :)

@M.Hatfield oh man! Posting a picture totally slipped my mind! I got a call yesterday saying I was being sent out of town for the next week and a half. I spent the entire day packing all my gear for work...
Since I'm only a few hours away, I'm hoping to make a short trip home over the weekend and get some shop time and photos. If that doesn't work, it looks like Wednesday or Thursday before I get to post one up.

Alive and very well! I did put both my livelihood and wellness at risk when exploring a cave (alone) down here by my jobsite.
I also got some good news, the drill team and I are getting pulled off of our current project and they are being sent to another site. That means I will be going home tomorrow night and I'll be able to get some more knife work done on Sunday

I finally got some photos of the Alpinist, designed by @M.Hatfield. It is being heat treated right now and should be finished up sometime tomorrow. I can already tell this little blade is going to be a good user.

I also ground out a new bird and trout design. It's a nice little blade. It may need an extra 1/4" on the handle, but I won't know for sure until I put some scales on it.

I got a little behind this weekend. But today I etched the Alpinist. I will finish the bevels tomorrow and the knife will be complete. Since this is in Otzi style knife, I will leave it a little rustic to stick with the theme. This has been a super fun build!

I've got to apologize. This project has taken much longer than I was anticipating. Lots of little life obligations keep popping up. I should have the blade out by the middle to end of this week though!

I love it. Absolutely love it! Might cause me to sell a few more folders but that often happens when you get such a nice knife.

I also think the pattern can easily scale up or down in size. Making it useful for just about anyone. :)
