Okay, so I was hoping to see if anyone knows of ANY primitive camping location near me. The piece of land that I used to frequent has been sold and I cannot go there anymore. It was owned by a friend of mine but he had to sell it several months back. Now I am stuck, I got pretty spoiled "having" land that I could go to whenever I wanted to and not have to worry about much.

I live in NE Ohio, Cuyahoga County to be more exact. Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't care to pay, I just need that primitive camping stuff back (open fires, etc.). Any help would be great.

What about Cuyahoga National Forest? That's about the only thing I can see (using google map)

Not sure if they allow primitive camping. I will have to look into it.

I'm gonna jump in here for a moment. I recently went from cuyahoga to geauga counties and have had the same issue in the past. Cuyahoga valley national only recently recieved funding for some in park campgrounds , up until that it was stealth if anything in the park. There are a few sites that can be used for a fee , 25$ I think . For the most part though we're stuck to private land until the new parks director gets his butt in gear and allows some back country camping.

Look to National Forest for dispersed camping. State forests in many states don't allow it, but Nat Forest is usually permissive except in some heavily used or ecologically sensitive areas.

Near(ish) Cleveland you have Wayne NF and over in NW PA ther is Allegheny NF.

Do you have state wildlife areas in Ohio? These often allow camping. Check with your state game & fish dept.
