It was tough letting that Malanika go... I’m glad you like it. I prefer the more barrel shaped one I kept.
He makes great knives. I like how each one has its own look and feel.

"kniv" - Scandinavian brand blade and grind vs. higher Finnish grind or Finnish rhomboid blade. But it does the same task, and the handle is super.

An athame is not traditional to any culture. 20th century Wiccan or neopagan development. And an Athame usually has a black handle.

    Question:
I see a kind of hook extension on the bottom end of many Scandinavian knife sheaths. This "hook" makes the sheath look like tail of a fish.
Is this just for decoration, or does it serve another purpose?

Thanks @PauliWalli . It is a 42 mm Lauri blade. I made the handle and sheath. I wish the blade and handle were a little longer. Its handy, but it would be even better if it was slightly longer.

@x39 and @Duncsquatch the aluminum rod is from an old blow gun that I am missing all the other pieces to. I use it as a bellows and I was using it to hold some metal skewers for bigger camping trips. It works pretty good for a host spindle, a little bit on the large side but it works.

    Thanks,

    Jarrod

It's a puukko that serves a similar purpose as an athame and a boline.i follow a similar but different path to the ones who use an athame.

You know I was extremely impressed with the YP. I could actually make better curls with that one, but the malanika definitely has better edge retention being 3v. I could get the malanika to work just as well with some practice.

The Elmax cuts “ok” but I’m working on grinding off that stupid secondary bevel. Once I zero her out, I’m confident it will go from ok to amazing.

Even Bailey dog wasn’t really impressed.

Thank you. This knife was forged and crafted by Mikko Inkeroinen. The blade has a rhomboid cross section. The handle is arctic willow.

She gets used and is one of my favorites.

Wood Jewell with 3 1/8" blade imported from Finland by Ragweed Forge. Curly birch and reindeer antler. My first Scandinavian knife, other than the 6-7 Mora Companions I have stashed in my gear or have given to my children. I'm looking forward to learning more about the Scandi grind. And buying more Scandinavian knives!
