I was gone for just a little bit because I was tired of the political discussions and my lack of self control, I just had to click on the threads.

I forgot what BCUSA really is, it's good people being good to reach other. If you're wondering why I'm posting here it's because I had that epiphany while sitting in the hospital.

I had a heart attack a couple nights ago, the put in a stint and cleared the blockage svc all looks good but, here I sit.

I was on my way to Grand Teton then Yellowstone...seems someone is determined not to have me make this trip. Between the truck breaking down just before the last try and my HA...you gotta wonder.

I'm feeling good and I'm pissed off at myself for not taking better care of myself, kidding myself that I was in better shape than I am. Luckily, I have another shot at getting in better shape. Heck,I gotta at least another 50 years of troops planned.

Probably won't be back on a at regular basis for a couple days but, I'm thinking about all the good folks on this site...except that @MrFixIt guy, you gotta watch that one.

I’m sorry to hear about the health problems, but glad you’re OK now. I drifted into more politically inclined and angry discussions lately too, and had to pull myself out and start reading here again.

There are a lot of generous people here who chime in from the US, Canada, the UK, Scandinavia, New Zealand, and Asia. There’s probably nowhere else I could get the same exposure to so many viewpoints from so many decent people. It’s like the polar opposite of the myopic, angry echo chambers we so often end up in.

    Wow Dave!
Heart attack huh? You really know how to drop a bombshell!
You will probably feel like a new man now that the pump is cleared of obstructions. Glad you’re back and those places have been there a long time. They’ll probably still be there when you do feel up to going there.

    Glad you're still with us!

Life has a funny way of reinforcing the concept of "don't sweat the small stuff". I learned that the hard way as well.

Finally, karma may not have been trying to keep you from your trip to torment you. The Fates may have realized that the same heart attack in a lonely stretch if road in the wilderness would have been your undoing. They likely did you a favor in order to keep you around for a bit. Rather nice if them if you ask me.

    Heal up quick!

I'm sorry for your health issues and missed trip. Major bummer on both counts. This is a timely warning. I saw my cardiologist 2 weeks ago. He was upset about my recent labs, so added some medicine. My cholesterol is genetically high and I can't tolerate any statins. (He said I could be on a bread & water diet, and my cholesterol would still be too high.) On top of that, my triglycerides were through the roof, so now I'm losing weight.

Thanks to everyone. I'm out of the hospital and sitting in a hotel room feeling very very lucky.

As soon as I get my things back from the other hotel 90 miles away I'll tell the story.

    Thanks again,

Prayers for health and healing. While we are here God has a plan for us all. Sometimes I believe it takes something serious happening to us to make us take a heartfelt look at what he wanting us to see, hear, or do. Best wishes on the next 50.

I had a stent put in last fall.

If you need to talk or ask questions don't be afraid to ask.

I had alot of side effects I wasn't really expecting. And knowing that your not the only one helps.

I ended up getting really bad anxiety from it. I didn't want to leave the house at times. I was petrified that I was going to drop dead at any moment if I did the wrong thing.

I've become really at the mercy of extreme temperatures. Too hot is tiring, too humid I can't breath, too cold I can't get warm.

The meds gave me all sorts of side effects too. So be ready for those as well

    BUT! It beats the alternative:)

@Paulyseggs , I'll be sure to contact you when I get back home, still in a hotel. I usually do a ton of research on stuff before I make a decision...strangely enough I want afforded that option in this case. Not having a laptop or a screen I can read easily has made that option difficult.
