    Hey all, I just wanted to pass along a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for those in the PA area.

    Samuel Thayer, probably the foremost authority on wild edible plants, is coming to the Pittsburgh area June 2.

    Sam wrote these books, which are probably in any serious forager's library.

    Sam and Adam Haritan will be presenting a one-day class on edible/medicinal plants and mushrooms.

    I just bought my ticket and am super-excited! I hope you get a chance to go.

    I'm tagging a few PA/MD people who, off the top my head, I think might be interested.

    @rsnurkle @Turtle Creek @melbolt65 @Lode @Sandcut

    This is a great opportunity for anyone who is interested in foraging to learn from someone with decades of experience.

    You are correct! This really is a great opportunity to learn from some of the best. I need to check our calendar. I'd love to camp at one of the locations for the weekend. Thanks for heads up @Badey

    Have the two books on the right. Didn't know there was a third one. Will have to pick it up. Any other weekend and I'd make the drive in a heartbeat. I'm already booked for that weekend and can't change plans.

    Hopefully those of you that go can post some detailed "trip" reports.

    Sorry you can't make it.

    I'll definitely write up a comprehensive trip report!

    Thanks for the post. I’m on Adam’s email list and saw the advertisement. It’s about a 4-hour drive which is a little far for a day trip, but I’m sure it will be a good time.

    Have fun! I've done several classes with Sam before the first book came out. He knows his stuff. Went to larger event after the first two books were out, the plant class with Sam was a throng of people, I decided to do something else during that time. Still had time to talk to Sam later.....he's fun to talk with about lots of stuff....

    Aww, drat! I'd make the trip out to "da burgh", for this if I didn't have programs on both days that weekend.

    Thanks for thinking of me.

    Looks like a great day. I'd go if it weren't 6hrs away. Big fan of Sam's books and Adam is making some high quality content and really helping to share a passion for foraging.

    Thanks much for the heads up. I didn't have a chance to talk to my wife about it yet but it's now on the radar.

    I read Nature's Garden and Forager's Harvest. I really enjoyed his writing style and his clear live of his subject. It would be great to hear him speak. I'd go if I was in the area. If you are local and can attend if recommend it.
