Tales have been told of a legend. A rock most legendary. A Meatrock.

In honor of that fabled February epic, a most bodacious outing has been planned to a State Forest in Northeastern PA.

@Sandcut @alukban and myself, @turtlepwr281 cordially invite you all to join us on an overnight saga of blades, beef and bafoonery in our hallowed Pennsylvania woods.

I'll update this thread as we get more information.

Where: The Flintstones camp, Delaware State Forest. Parking lot location: https://www.google.com/maps/place/4...!1s0x0:0x0!7e2!8m2!3d41.1646887!4d-75.1199822

    When: February 3 to 4.

I may take Friday the 2nd off from work. If there is interest we could meetup Friday afternoon and start early/stay over another night.

Sound off if you think you may come, and hope to see you all there.

I wish I could, and thanks for the tag, but too much going on that weekend. See you all at the carving meet!

Really looking forward to that PC!

I took a look at my post history and other than Gosstoberfests, the last time I was out was Jan, 2016. I didn't think it was too bad until I realized a.) it's 2018 and b.) that was nearly two years ago?!?!

Oh well. Life needed its butt kicked and now I need to go to the woods to rest my legs from kicking :14:

Really wish I could head up just for 1 night, but when the pregnant wife says "don't you leave me sick and alone with this 4 year old!"..... Cannot make it but would be thrilled to be tagged on anything else in the future in East PA

Yeah, you've got your work cut out for you.

But don't lament. We've all been there. Cherish it. In a dozen more years, daddy's little buddy will be wanting the car keys and you'll have "Cats in the cradle" running through the back of your mind in a continuous loop.

Oh, and I just had a rememory.

If we're more than one night or more than 10 people, we'll need a permit and they were VERY displeased the last time that we applied only 2 weeks out and made it abundantly clear to me.

Would love to make it but I’m not up to it yet!

Maybe when spring breaks and things warm up!

The way things are looking, it may pretty much be a “spring weather” camp with night time lows above freezing :)

OK my rental car is reserved, which means I'll be there. Likely early Saturday morning to give us maximum goof-off time.

Looks like it may have the potential to get a bit cold that night.

    That's no meatrock

    deathstar.jpg

    Meatrock is over here ..... 41°13'13.6"N 75°04'04.4"W

(Flintstone camp on Bushkill is nice too)

I'm looking at my family calendar. Got something until 4:00 Saturday ...... got something that starts on 5:00 Sunday ...... that's 25 hours of discretionary time. Oh boy.

Haha. I dislike the proximity to snowmobiles at meatrock. Definitely want to spend a few hours away from internal combustion engines.

The weather looks to be pretty much perfect for the weekend though I doubt there will be any snow —> High of 26°F on Sat and Low of 18°F at night.

I was hoping to do a snow trench but one can still hope :)

Nah, only calling for 2-3" tomorrow. There was the potential for a measurable snow Thursday night, but it looks like it's not materializing. It should be enough to allow for pulling a sled, but not enough to require snowshoes. AND, more imortantly, not enough to run a snowmobile.

9AM meet up time on Sat?

I’m kinda retricted to soft foods these days BTW because I have sutures in my mouth :(

It’s a good thing that bacon is soft :D

9AM sounds great. I'll leave the hard pretzels and tortillas at home then.

Unless someone ruins it by making it crispy!

    Gummy bacon for the win!

This sounds like a fun get together. Unfortunately (or fortunately), I'll be over at Rausch Creek for the weekend. Have a great time!

Forecast update for measurable snow in our area on Sunday, so plan your travel accordingly. It's still up in the air, but possibly 4-8" Sunday.

    Stay tuned.

    Enjoy!

Staying tuned. Should be pretty if it hits while we're still there!
