I hope everyone can make it for a September 19-22, Rendezvous. These are my dreams-Ron the Squirrel Killer extranare gets enough squirrels so, "the Damn that is hot-Oh that is good squirrel stew" can be recreated. A less traveled location will be found to camp at-I have an idea where to find that at.

I vote for more squirrels this time.
Think I'll bring the Marlin Model 60 as well as the "Pop gun" as @WhisperInThePine dubbed it.

I still think that works for us. I'll bring my Model 60 as well and the O/U .410 also.

I will share me secret and please don't share with anybody else. There are ways to hunt SQUIRRELS and works especially well in the Jemez. Squirrels are curios animals just like a cat exploring a box when you putting in on the floor. The best secret is to BRIGHLTLY COVERED WITH REFLECTIVE TAPE AND MAKE VERY LOUD NOISES. I have found in the past that talking loud works really well but blasting big stereos on portable power supply systems work better. Now that may sound ridiculous but it does work. I have taken my 3000 watt home stereo system out there on my trailer with a portable generator. It takes awhile to set up and have some super high efficient speakers out there. They maybe 30 years old but man do they blast. You can't drag that all over the forest and we both know that. So what I have done in the past is park it close to the road because the USFS does have their rules. This does require extra hunters!! You break into teams and I prefer two. One team has everyone else in it and the other team only has two people in it. The bigger team fans out around that musical trailer that is attracting the squirrels--(keep in mind the New Mexico hunting rules). The two man team-now that is the little secret. They get on the other side of the forest and sneak up in to scare those little rebellious squirrels back towards the music and the large hunting group. There are on very small portion of squirrels that don't like music. That is what the other two man team is about.

The icing on the cake is the music being played and it has been my observation that SQUIRRELS are attracted to heavy BASE oriented music but still mix it up. I don't know why but they are. I have been told by experts the wider the variety the better I am old school and use Beethoven's fifth Overture (modern recordings with the cannons), AC/DC Hells Bells, Jimmy Hedrick's music, RUN-DMC, Pavarotti, Alanis Morrissette, Eagles, Johnny Cash, and the Blues Brothers (I couldn't believe that one myself). I am redoing my equipment for squirrel season as we speak...

Squirrels like to sleep to and so strobe lights in all directions all night long. You can't hunt at night according the New Mexico state laws. Second day hunting, When morning comes them squirrels will line up and talk about the previous days and all night vents. Squirrels for the stew will be finished off.

So we are sniping squirrels and jamming to some Metallica.......... I'm going to enjoy this...... But that calls for a different rifle. If we are coming up against some 100 shots. I need to bring out my bench gun.

What is sniping? If that is hunting then yes... I have heard Metalica and do like what little I have heard... I like being in the lonely 2nd hunting team at the other end of the forest because I like helping others..

See Squirrels are a curious animal and so they are attracted by things like bass type music, flashy colors and bright lights especially strobe style lights.

Depends on your views of spirits. Some say they wander at night.

Let's keep in touch and see if more interest develops between now and then.

My work situation is still a bit uncertain as far as taking time off in Sept this year..
