here i got a nice Kenmore make , rotary machine
the paint on it was pealing off bad so i had to strip it and re paint it, for that i had to take off engine and a bunch of other hardware
the wooden box was in bad shape so i restain it and glued it,
all moving parts were cleaned with kerosene and a small brush then re oiled ,
    machine was primed then painted
    engine charcoal brushes were renewed
wires got a fresh re wire

i took some pics of the process

    before

    IMG_2725.JPG IMG_2729.JPG IMG_2730.JPG IMG_2732.JPG IMG_2736.JPG IMG_2748.JPG

will take better pics once i buff up SS and chromed hardware and i sew with it some

paint is a hammered finish and is browner- better pics in natural light soon

Wow that looks great! Are you going to make anything specific with your machine?

Yes i like to make zippered bags pouches from canvas and leather

for now i'm just tuning in the sewing tensions and pressures for a tight weave...

running some 40+ old thread i found in the bottom of box , lol I know - I live dangerously... sewing some label cardboard ... does nice no hookups even on tight pace even with the wrong needle for that thread thickness...

That machine looks great Keyser. Looks like we're going to have to make room in the "quilting club" Ben.

    Outstanding.

So a silly question, but what do you use to get your heavy thread off the giant spool it comes on and onto one that fits the machine?

15-91 unless I miss my guess. The 201-2 (the only other with the potted motor on the back) has the light on the side facing you, and the tensioner is on the side facing you as well. Ther eis also a little white light switch on the bottom left hand side of the machine. The 15-91 has the light on the back side and the tension arm on the front.

Either the 201-2 or the 15-91 will serve you well, they are great machines . I have one of each ;) Those kenmoors are great too, they sew very well.

Oops, I thought 201 had tensioner facing forward...back to the homework lol.

I actually may know there's a kenmore like that for free. Hmm....
