Most of my wood is brittle and crumbles easily....
I don't know how I lived without a Mini. These curls ain't exactly epic but with a hatchet, I'm happy.
We have different pine here in California, but it acts the same way. Most of my feather sticks on drier pine end up just being shavings, but that's ok too.
I don't think it's you, it is more likely the wood!
Little practice got ways to go
Looks good to me!
Had no problem getting my fires started with these!
Looks like you are getting into your new AO!

Looks like that knife does it’s job well, and looks good doing it!
It does. And fits my hand like a glove!
He did an outstanding job with it and the sheath.
Learning and reviewing our shaving / featherstick lessons this weekend
Nice job ladies!

Nice work @LJHfrstr . I took my PSK knife out for a little practice.
Playing with my new Woodbear Bushcrafter.
How do you like the Sigmora?
It is still brand new to me, but so far so good.
Pittsburgh had a sad weekend, so in hindsight, this little session was meditation more than anything else. Probably-but-not-certainly-a-maple with a Yakut:
Can’t wait to get out of this apartment, this is the first time I’ve practiced my feathersticks inside.... feels weird.
I spent a little time making a pile of shavings/feathersticks with a few of my Moras today.
Trying out a BCNW-01 I just picked up.
Nice work @pab1 and @Sinjin
Same to you. Well done!
Definitely a sad day. Its amazing how relaxing it can be making shavings and feather sticks.
Fatwood and my modified Old Hickory Boning knife.
Thanks! Those are nice curls as well, especially with an axe!
What knife is that?
Siembida Peregrine. Great little blade.
On break at work, had to get in some practice!
