Alright! Doesn't matter how or where you caught 'em, just show me the trout!

I hope I can add some pictures to this thread soon, too! :18:

Sterling forest has a couple of good trout spots. Belmont lake state park ( the streams) as well as conectquot state park are both decent trout locations with relatively easy access from nyc. (Though latter is tick central) Good luck and have fun..

little one.jpg bigger one.jpg two different fish in two different rivers, the one with the plug stuck to its gills is roughly 18 LBS. I released that wild fish without removing it from the water (as per the regs) hence the poor photo, I was fishing by myself and taking pics with my cell phone

Here are a couple from the reservoir near me this year. Check out NYC reservoirs as another option, this time of year you can catch fish from shore.

    Quickly released to get bigger

I know this is an older thread, and it is not yet Thursday for a throwback Thursday post, but who cares!?

A rare wild Tiger Trout taken on tenkara gear from a very tiny little stream 3 miles from home. If you ever want to head out on Route 80 east to exit 26, we can do some wild trout fishing!

    Beautiful tiger!

Not the area you were asking about but here are a few nice Montana trout from the last few years. Also a bonus grayling thrown in. It was a very nice grayling for this area. I caught it on a parachute adams. All the fish were caught on fly rods with either streamers or dry flies and released. Also a monster trout I found dead early in the year on a local river. I put my wader boot next to it for scale. From heel to toe the boot is 12" long. I would have loved to have caught it at least once when it was alive!

My bro-in-law (L) and me (R) at Lake Shasta, Ca. many moons ago. Only place to catch trout in Hawai'i is on the island of Kaua'i in the high elevation streams cold enough to support them. No Kaua'i trout pictures, sorry.

I have a bucket-list dream of catching every salmonid species in North American (though Eurasian huchens and taimans would be nice too). So far just rainbows and kokanees.

Just an FYI trout season in Hawai'i is a summer season lasting anywhere from 1 to 3 months depending of fish stocks. The season is usually announced in January of that year. The one time I went up to Koke'e, Kaua'i for trout season it was for just the month of August. I'm not sure how that applies to strictly C&R trout fishing whether the closed season applies for C&R or not. Most trout here is planted (in Pu`u Lua Reservoir) but there is a reproducing population in some of the cooler streams.

I took my neighbor's nine year old daughter(she had no father)fishing at one of those pay to fish joints,as I had no license, but been promising to take her all summer long.As it was her ninth birthday,I thought it'd be a fun time for her(and me).Well ya know how those places are, they charge $4 a lb.and before ya know it I was gonna have to pay somewhere around $30 for all the fish we caught, soon after we started fishing as it's like "shooting fish in a barrel".She had the time of her life as she'd never fished before. When we got home, where I cleaned and dressed them she told me she wanted two for dinner. On top of that my wife and I got her a Carvel ice cream cake with nine candles to blow out.It meant alot to me to,because my wife and I have no kids and we liked seeing how happy she was.It was a sad day for us when our neighbor moved back home to her mom's in the Poconos.I assured the girl(and her four year old sister)that the Poconos was a great place to fish for trout, not counting those pay to fish joints. Her mother,a troubled woman who had a drug problem, never paid me as she said she would for the fish, but I easily shrugged it off, remembering all the times my dad took me,my bros, sis's,and cousins fishing.Gratitude and love is an action thing,ya get alot out of helping people in need, and those girls needed a father.God love them,I wish the best for those girls. Most likely it's their granny who's raising them still, their mother incapable with her heroine addiction.Hopefully she'll get help someday.I didn't know much about being a father but I loved them as though they were mine.

Trout, trout, and more trout. Caught on the Heritage tip-up. Broke out the Italian Military Wool blanket anorak. Actually not terribly warm. Beneath that I'm wearing a hoodie with a wool vest. Chilly day with temps in the teens.
