.. and her husband just bought this for some exploring. Too bad they live so far away (Germany) otherwise I would try to borrow it. Some couple set this up for a 10 month Central/South America trip and now sold it to them. I am a little bit jealous when I compare this to my car/tent combo. ;)

I think its pretty awesome. I have an idea to make one out of an 18 wheeler with no trailer, similar to this one, but I like this better.

I live in central Missouri and was traveling down one of our major highways the other day and came upon one very similar to this one only white and it had Alaska plates on it, they are so cool.

Not quite sure what it is but it is not a Pinzgauer or a Unimog. It is a cool set up none the less. Lucky guy to have that on the coast. Great picture!

Looks like 4WD, from the looks of the front tire pattern. Cabovers can be cool, very good access to everything engine-related. It's spooky when you're not used to driving/riding in one. If you pull up to another vehicle in traffic and stop in a normal/safe manner, it's quite strange to have the other guy's bumper about 2 feet ahead of your feet.

    Awesome ride!
Bit of overkill, when considering European roads, but then again there are vast expansions to the east that are not tarmac'ed up.

Adventure in style and with the basic no frills exterior not to attract too much attention, except by folks you might find here, some overland forums and the like.......always thought an unimog would a good use of lottery winnings...

It must be nice to have a lot of money.

I'd have to take out a 48 month loan just to replace the tires!!

I was thinking on doing something similar with a old Mitsubishi crew cab.
They are much more common and easier to obtain parts for.
    Not as hardy though.

That's a lot nicer than what we had when we were young. Dad would take us 3 boys camping in a '66 VW Bug with a 17 ft. canoe on top.
