I was sitting by a tree and this little feller didn't like it. He started barking at me and dropping pine branches on me. We had a little discussion with my .22 rifle. He became freezer meat and wall hanger as reminder for squirrels not to bring pine branches to squirrel hunt.

Did better than me. I spent last Sunday in the woods for 5 hours and never saw one worth taking a shot at. My buddy got three. We had over 10 last year in a couple of hours.

I like that mount by the way.

Squirrels don't come with antlers. There is a species of rabbit that does and it is pretty rare to see-Jackelope.

My brother was lucky enough to catch a jackalope. Made a great mount of it too. But I have to disagree, the horny squirrel is a rare but fearsome beast. It is often known as the vampire squirrel as it is prone to drop out of trees and kill deer - which has also given its other name, deer squirrel. Some say the horns aren't actually grown by the squirrel, but that young male squirrels take the horns off their first deer kill as a rite of passage. For those that doubt, the scientific name is Rheithrosciurus macrotis.

Nonetheless, they exist. Be careful out there.

Gee! I think I'll trade up from my air rifle!:11:

BTW, I think @redneckron saw one of those run across the road when he was out ATV'ing at our last gathering.

That squirrel was a big sucker and glad I was riding an ATV because if I was walking. I might to be able or around to type this right now.
