    Hey bush braws!!
I found another one.. IMG_20180619_175526.jpg Well it was less than $5 and I had too much fun with the $4 knife this style that seemed made for a GI Joe.. anywho!
This review will be an ongoing one for as long as it holds up..
First impressions.. was sharp out of the box. Not shaving sharp but will carve fine. Handle is still a little small for my hands but that's not a problem that should effect it's functionality. The handle is round so without keeping a thumb on the guard there is no way to orient blade direction.
    Specs are..
    7.5" OAL
    4" blade
    3.5” handle
    Stainless steel blade (unspecified)
Same smooth textured, round handle as the mini monster I beat on a while back.. just larger..
I'll be doing the normal, notches, shavings, feather sticks and what have you as this progresses. IMG_20180619_180754.jpg This was the same sweetgum sappling I cut with the mini knife. It cut it no problem. I'll be batoning this blade because i like to do it, and I think it's probably the most abusive skill we throw at one of these blades. While beating the knife feces out of this little dude I plan to baton as many different species of wood as I can. I'll post them as I go. I hope for 50. IMG_20180619_182207.jpg so to kick it off.. I started with black walnut.. those would have made some nice scales! IMG_20180619_182616.jpg but no! The show must go on!! I'll be keeping y'all posted as I see how much this guy can take and see just how many different woods I can split!

Well if all goes right, I'll be getting a little dirt time this afternoon with sass. I'm gonna also try to put this knife through about 5 different species while I'm at it.!!

I've looked at this model from time to time. Is it full tang, could you tell by looking? Think I might have mentioned the mt-528 (i took off the cord wrap) mtech cousin to survivor. Master cutlery companies in any case. It's a good little knife. I don't know what USA retail is. But Canada around $11.

It does not appear to be full tang. The handle is enclosed on the end so I can't really tell. This model was more comfortable than the mini model I played with from MTech. But I plan on giving it the same amount of love I give to all my blades and see how it holds up.

As you can see by mine. It gets abused and takes it just fine. It does the finer batoning when carving down wood blanks.

When it's all said and done ( if it lives up to it's name ) I plan on building a fire with a piece of each wood to make the epic 50 wood fire!! And make a cup of tea with said fire...

Well, I'm trying to kill 2 birds with one stone...
I took my new $5 knife out for a taste of a few different woods today and see how it holds up. IMG_20180620_173317.jpg from top to bottom, Pecan, poplar, maple, cherry. IMG_20180620_173954.jpg little knife takes a good lick! I drove it through knots and all ( maple pictured ) and it took it like a champ! IMG_20180620_174139.jpg off to a good start to 50 different woods. 5 and counting!

Super cool stuff! I like your repeated examples that you don't need a $200 knife to get the job done in the woods.

Well guys it has happened!! IMG_20180620_193313.jpg I still had some daylight left.. so I grabbed (left to right) sycamore, crab apple, apple. So I got to busting! IMG_20180620_193705.jpg it just disassembled.. nothing physically "broke" just totally came apart! It was only glued together and held in place with the plastic piece on the end.
This knife didn't take a quarter of what I put that mini MTech through. On it's 11th piece of wood ( 8 today 3 yesterday ) total falure. Was it worth $5.. I don't think so, in my own opinion. And I am saying this compared to the $4 MTech that I beat the hell out of and it still lives.. (somewhere in the PNW at the moment) but this knife just couldn't handle it. I'll turn this into a project blade now so I haven't totally wasted my 5er.. The survivor.. didnt..

Wonder if you could do like a Puukko in the field, and heat the tip of the tang and burn it into a field expedient handle...

@SpookyPistolero maybe! I'm thinking I modify the tang and do a stacked leather handle with a steel cap..

The handle was hollow buy the way.. 1529539454409-712588787.jpg really each end was all that held it together and that only had a light coating of glue

Looks like the assembly and handle materials failed instead of the blade.

@Bushcraft-kelso you should make some new scales for it out of the black walnut it batoned threw the first day.
