I recently bought Suunto MC-2G compass on eBay. It is a global compass with a needle placed on a gimbal and both ends have small folded tips up. Compass looks new but I noticed that if its base is level the needle is not, it is tilted so that white (south) end is lower and red (north) end is up and it touches the top with a small vertical tip on the red end. Otherwise it looks functional. My understanding is it should be always level if a base is level. Is it a manufacturing defect or it is on the other samples too?

Hey Brother, I see you're new here. Welcome aboard!
I've been using an MC-2 global for about 4 or 5 years and it has never behaved that way. I see that you got it on ebay, was it new in original package? This could be a factory defect. If it came from an unreliable source it could be a knockoff. In any case I would get in touch with Suunto customer support. Mine came from a reliable American vender, yours should look like this. Good luck.
