I wonder how many of you enjoy the post apocalypse computer game genre as much as I do. I like Fallout, Rust, Dayz, 7 Days to Die, Fallout Shelter for example. Does having a prepper mindset give you a predisposition to like these games? If so, what are your favorites?

It's been raining most of the day and you can tell what I've been doing. :)

I may or may not hoard resources in games like that. You can never have enough adhesive! ;)

Entertainment and fantasy can be a fun escape, but ought not be confused with reality. Those who cannot draw that distinction (ie Leftists collectivists who enjoy LARPing as revolutionaries or whatever, destroying the superior Western society that we've built with our blood and sweat over the past centuries) are the main problem with our culture today.

That being said, I quite enjoyed Fallout 1, Fallout 2, and Wasteland 2. I don't have much time for gaming anymore, though.

I really like the early fallout games along with New Vegas, the Stalker series, Factorio, and Arma 2 and 3 Dayz.
The Metro series and Escape from Tarkov are also very interesting games in a post apocalyptic setting that I really enjoy
My general mindset definitely predisposes me to liking that style of game

Always liked the Fallout series, and the Last of Us was amazing, and I really loved Farcry Primal.

That's a good game too. I have played it through a couple times but there have been some updates since. I'll be getting back to it in the near future. It was hard the first time around, tricky to balance but I killed off the malcontents.

I'm not a fan, but "State of Decay 1 & 2" seem like a game lots of people enjoy.

I'm still playing "Fallout" 4. Dig the building aspect a lot. Just wish resources were infinite.

My family got "Pong" for Christmas one year when I was about 5 or 6 and I have been a video game junkie ever since. I have every console. LOL

Play fallout 4 quite a bit. The infinite resource thing would be loved. So much time collecting stuff just to build. Played new Vegas and 3 and hope soon to play 76. Never played any of the other games listed above.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. was one of the best way before the modern reinterpretation. Unfortunately they all seem to be missing something connecting you with the world. Fallout series is great but is still really missing something.

I have a ton of games in my library and many are of this genre. 7 Days, Hold Your Own, Subsistence, Survisland, and others. I like to relax and think about what might potentially happen at the end of society. I don't want to live it, just practice in the virtual world. If anyone is playing I would be interested in playing together whatever game. Its good stress reduction. o_O

I enjoy the fallout series. The story behind it is excellent. Dayz, state of decay, and I am alive was good too.

I like Banished a lot too. It's not technically a post appocalyptic game but it does scratch that survival and preparedness itch. It's a really good game considering the dev is just one guy. It's available on steam too like a lot of those already mentioned.

I got lost in "the long dark" for a while. You are stuck in Canada in the winter after some sort of EMP event. Need to scrounge around and craft stuff to survive. Need to watch for hypothermia, water, food, injuries, wild animals.

Don't forget Farcry 5! It's not post-apocalyptic in the true sense, but it can show what happens when order breaks down and local charismatic figures start consolidating power. So not all that unrealistic of a scenario. Also a totally bad*ss game :dblthumb:

Actually, on android there's a game called This War of Mine. Really good scavenge-to-survive game. Multiple playable character each with their own strengths.

While not a gaming junkie per se, I’ve had various consoles since I was about 10 (younger if you consider the Atari that my dad bought when I was really young). I tend to game in fits and starts - get a new game, play it almost obsessively for a couple weeks then set it down and may go months without playing anything again. When the weather is nice I’d just rather be outside.

That said, with the weather turning cooler, it’s getting into gaming season I suppose. I’d never tried any of the Fallout games but always read/heard good things. So I downloaded Fallout 4 on Saturday to give it a whirl.... aaand I’ve already wasted about 10 hours of my life on it, lol. Oh well.

I've got a couple thousand hours in the Borderlands franchise. It's not specifically "post apocalyptic", but the first two installments have a very Mad Max wasteland-like theme in certain parts.

Another "not really post-apocalyptic" but has the look and feel, is RAGE.

I was a couple hours into it, took a break from gaming for a while, and had to reinstall it, so I'm back at the beginning. If nothing else, it's a stunningly gorgeous game on a strictly visual level. Game play is not bad, either.

naw, Don't have any car payments. I was addicted to playing that darn game, actually was late for a date one time with my now wife (Before she was wife) joined a "Clan" Da Digital Anarchy and created many nights/hours of hate & discontent with them on their server. Life caught up with me, started traveling for work, Da clan and server ended up closing from lack of interest, started playing less & less then laptop couldn't hang, was last straw. I've moved on from on-line gaming now. I do miss it though. Wife still plays WoW not sure how many characters she has but most are highest level (Easily 7 years she's been in the game now)

I haven't played games much since I got married. I'm just too busy with whats real.
I used to be a huge fan of RTS war games like the command and conquer series and steam's wargame series.

currently been playing the long dark its really worth a look if your into survival games - if you can get pasts the main enemy being ravenous wolves it real immerses you into a feeling of lone survival in a harsh environment.

There is a story mode but you can play it as an open world adventure too
