I talked to Wolf, and I think I will be just be doing a firecraft class for this meet. Probably going to use a few different ignition sources IE ferro rod, matches and if the sun is good maybe a lense. I will show splitwood and twig fires. Talk about natural and manmade tinder. I may or may not show flint and steel and friction. I'm hoping to have my 4 legged bush buddy with me, so I think I will have a lot of doggie sitting to do haha. Something tells me she will need a valium before we go. Looking forward to seeing every one for the spring.

A couple other things. I know that a few other people have mentioned that they would like to get involved in regards to classes. I say, GO FOR IT!!!! The more the merrier, and there is a saying that goes something to the effect that: " You truly learn a task when you have to teach it to someone else". For anyone that has attended in the past, you know that this is an extremely welcoming and laid back crowd. There really isn't a better place for you to try out your teaching chops and to get constructive feedback on how you are doing. Above all else, I have to say that the biggest thing that I have taken away from this forum is the exchange of knowledge. It is absolutely amazing the braintrust that is assembled here. We don't get too many opportunities to slide back from our keyboards and meet face to face with the people behind the avatars, take advantage of the opportunity.
I will be bringing a book that I got on trees for people to take a look at. I found it by chance when I was doing a few searches on the web and I think it is a super resource for anyone in our area. It was written by a fairly local guy from Massachusetts and I think it will help anyone that is looking to expand their knowledge of tree species native specifically to our area of the world.

That shouldn't be a problem. 2 hours east from me. I am looking forward to meeting everyone.

At some point I could host something out this way. A lot of different resources available to me.

With turkey season starting the next day I’ll give a quick introduction to turkey hunting class if anyone is interested.

I’d also like J.M. to consider bring his Pointer and talking a bit about bird dogs!

One month to go! I have to get together with Moe to decide on the food, but with Turkey hunting season starting the next day perhaps we will deep fry one.

Since Turkey season is right around the corner, the wife said she'd show me how to make a TURKEY CHILI for the outing. So you can add Turkey chili, cheese and onions to the menu. I'll bring one of those folding 8' tables for the food & a double burner propane stove too, plus some bowls, spoons & paper towels. Oh, and I get those 5 gallon Poland spring water jugs, i'll bring 1 for coffee, tea, cooking etc.

I just finished the "Make an improvised flint striker" for an elective for the BCUSA Bushclass intermediate level. With Buzz doing the fire class, I'd like to donate a FLINT & STEEL KIT to the FREE RAFFLE. The kit will have an improvised file flint striker, chert & Quarts flint, char cloth, charred punk wood, Fatwood and some cedar bark in an Altoids charring tin. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TX1bco8hIQA

Whatever you like in the way of soft drinks and snacks you might want for a day long outing, something to eat off of, a cup, and utensils, most folks usually bring whatever their day pack contains, but it's not necessary.

    See you there. :dblthumb:

I'm about 99% sure I'll be making chicken pot pie as the main meal this time.

A tad over two weeks to go, it's getting close! Any suggestions for classes??

Show up when it suits you, it usually kicks off about 7:30 am and goes on until you've had enough fun, lunch is usually noon time or there abouts.
