This site runs pretty good, the administrators are doing a great job. The operating systems work great. Everything runs smoothly. The topics are interesting and the contributors always have constructive things to say.

All that having been said, I need to tell you that there's something wrong here. Where's the snarkyness? Whoever programmed this thing forgot to build in the bickering, personality clashes and rudeness common in other forums. :):):D

Note to administrators; If I posted this in the wrong place please move it. :7::4::9:

If you sit by a campfire long enough, the snarkyness burns off!

The forum replaced Dr. Phil and Maury Povich with fire side chats, intellectual discourse and fine food.

Good people with big hearts and open minds, like those here on BCUSA, don't have need for such pettiness. :)

There's a snark control slider they can adjust. I think they monitor it with one of these. You just clamp it onto the web server, and it displays the current snark level. With magic, and stuff.

Who who grills bears will get you fined one American dollar by @DavidJAFO and his swear jar.
There was a Liar’s Bench investigation once upon a time trying to prove that DavidJAFO was actually BG in hiding.
We’re not saying he is. We’ve just never seen the two of them together in the same room.

Woods folk tend to be nice. Even the hard corp gear junkies are pretty nice. The poorer folk instead of getting talked bad about or new folk getting talked down to get suggestions and ideas to do the best with what they have or can afford.

Here it mostly feels like i'm sitting out at the barn or shop or back yard talking with friends.

Walk your own walk isn't just a saying it's a way of approaching everyone around here.

Lotta pay it forward also since we all got help at various points in the past or present or future.

Snark and personality clashes happen occasionally (I am guilty of clashing occasionally), but it's the exception instead of the rule. We tend to get along pretty well for an internet venue.

Perhaps I should have said "where's all the intentional snarkyness" It's sometimes pretty easy to confuse a reasonable question with snark in an internet forum where you can't hear inflection in ones voice or see the look on their faces.

Just goes to show you, if you look hard enough for something, you will find it. :):D

@Mark Knapp you should throw that survival knife of yours into the nearest river and get you a Mora.

    How was that?

They also have a really good cursing filter. No matter how many times I type a cuss word, it always shows up with a bunch of funky characters instead of the actual word I typed.... sometimes looks like I type in hieroglyphics....

What? You think this is supposed to be like TrekBBS where a single political and sociological ideaology reigns supreme and all those who step even slightly out of line in their thinking are attacked, viciously, and then verbally assaulted from members all around the globe who each claim to be morally and socially superior to all others?

    Pfft.. yeah right. lol.

The outdoors has a way of making people forget all of that and largely just be nice to each other. If someone starts getting pissy, we just give them some fire cooked bacon cut with a Mora and served in a milsurp cookset, then share in a big circle all the things that BG does that would actually get you killed in the wild while laughing that he DOES NOT have a modded Finn gas mask bag.

Hey..I'm in! Seriously though. I had 2 web sites I used to run, some of you may have heard of them. My first web site was Hoistman.com and was just an informational site, free info on all types of things. Never had anything to sell, just provided information from Apples to zebras. My other site was a forum site, Tool Info Forums, great bunch of people posting their builds and helping others with their builds. Cars, trucks, houses, barns, sheds, boxes, anything anyone builds and the tools they use to do it. Everything ran smooth until I got sick, in 2006 I had to let both sites go, couldn't find anyone to take them over and carry on. Biggest problem was the cost of operation and web space. I always hated web sites that give people information on how to do things.....for a price. I spent a few hundred a year on domain names and site hosts. Couldn't find anyone to take over so those sites died. Here is something about me that nobody here knows, well almost nobody. LOL I have lost count of how many forums I have been banned from since letting mine go. Mostly woodworking sites but some other forums also. I can honestly say that the problem was jealousy. I really do know almost everything about every kind of tools, machinery, electronics, electrical, plumbing, and construction. I always got into trouble by telling someone how to do something the correct way after old timer know it all had said something wrong. I would provide proof of the correct answer and would get banned for arguing and starting fights with older members. My record stands at 23 minutes from sign up to banned. My biggest regret is in not finding this site until this spring. I'm having a blast looking at every ones projects, giving advice when I can, making jokes about people and their doings. I have been in build swaps before but nothing like this site. The generosity is contagious, hell in 4 months I've hosted 3 GAW myself. I've had members send me things I need for a project and I've been sending things out to members. I kid you not, the lady at the post office has started flirting with me. I found this site by accident because I didn't really know the term Bushcraft and was curious. Found a European bushcraft but couldn't keep up with the languages so googled bushcrafts US and found this place. I do break for food and sleeping and go places with the wife. Today I spent a couple hours making a package for a member here, but I have never logged out since joining. Of course that may change now that everyone here knows I'm a bad man, but I'm here for now. My biggest problem is trying to explain to my beautiful bride of 43 years, how I managed to fall in love with a goat!
