    Yes indeed! Chumash and Gabrielino did use these even after the development of Tomols and Ti-ats. Though their sewn plank boats were far superior for long distance ocean voyages, these tule boats (or "balsas") were routinely used in bays and estuaries even after contact. We are constructing a tule balsa over the next few weeks using all stone tools! I will post the report and video upon completion!
