    Thank you brothers!

I don't know what I've done to have been blessed with so many friends here but I'm extremely thankful for each and every one of you! I'm hoping and praying he gets to come home tomorrow, I know Justin and his wife (who has stayed with him this whole time) are both exhausted.

    Thank you my friends!

He's having a little trouble resting but he's not in any significant pain, mostly just weak. A bit on the grumpy side LOL but I think that's normal after surgery.

I find that the recovery is about a week and a half for every hour under anesthesia. My experience.

Hey @T. Pollock, I have a message for Justin:

When you're comfortable enough, extend one arm skyward, bend at the elbow, repeatedly pat yourself on the back while repeating "attaboy".

If you ever get to Joisey, please join my campfire.

I don't doubt that a bit brother. I know it seems to take a long time to get back to oneself after being under.

    I sure will. :)
If I ever do I'd love to share a campfire with ya brother.

Justin is back in Vanderbilt hospital. The severe abdominal pain started again late last night and his pain medication wasn't helping at all so his wife called an ambulance. Unfortunately the ambulance took him to our local hospital which was a total waste of time, they did absolutely nothing for him. One of the nurses whispered in Justin's wife's ear "get him back to Vanderbilt ASAP" and that's what she did early this morning.

I've had UTIs before and I've had kidney stones before so I know a little about how painful urinary problems can be. When it comes to understanding how the kidneys actually work and how creatinine levels being too high could cause such severe pain I'm totally ignorant though. He also has both RBC & WBC in his urine. They are doing a CT scan but I don't know any results yet.

I'd sure appreciate your continued thoughts & prayers for my son Justin. I feel totally helpless!

    Thanks,
    Tim

    Thank you my friends!

I honestly have no idea what all these numbers and stuff actually mean but here's the latest info I have.

    1. He has kidney stones that went undetected by the ultrasound they did before he was released.
    2. His creatinine was 1.9 last night, 2.23 when they got to Vanderbilt this morning and now is 2.40 after 2 liters of fluid.
    3. His GFR is 36.

And it seems none of the doctors have any answers. :33:

    kidney stones suck.
a 36 GFR isn't good - 90 is "normal", a 36 means his kidneys are functioning at about 35% of what they should be.
OTOH, once they remove the stones (or break them up so he can pass them), his GFR should improve significantly.

    Thanks John!

I wondered if the stones might be at least part of the cause of the numbers being out of whack.

    Thank you brother!

Justin and his wife are trying to force them to change the antibiotic he's on because they believe that's what is causing the kidney problems. I cautioned them they had better make sure his insurance company has their back on that decision before pushing too hard. STRESS.

    Thank you my friends!

My DIL took my advice thankfully and found out that them refusing the antibiotic the doctors want him to stay on (Vancomycin) would cause consequences with Justin's insurance, as I was afraid it would. He has apparently passed the kidney stones now and has agreed to stay on this antibiotic another 24 hrs to see what his kidney levels etc. do now that the stones have passed. He is allergic to the only other antibiotic that's on the same level (according the the docs) as the Vanc. Hoping tomorrow brings better news for them.
