    Yikes! :eek: I cringed when you used the edge of your knife to scrape that ferro rod. I use a dedicated ferro rod striker, not the cutting edge of my knife! Most all of my knives have a sharp 90° spine to use as a ferro rod scraper and process fatwood shavings. Use it, don't abuse it!

    Good memory @rsnurkle . :) I am always artificially skewing things through my love of variety, but from a practical standpoint, there are plenty of other easy options available in the dry summer months; but when the rains start the curls really start becoming a more practical option. Cedar bark and fatwood are great wet weather bundles year-round, but depending on where I am; may not always be handy.
