A profound truth is that we tend not to notice things in our lives that are going well. But things that aren't going well exert a vice-like grip on our attention. The result is that our days seem filled with crap, when in fact we are surrounded by miraculous perfection.

This thread is dedicated to snapping out of this sad state of affairs, noticing that there are countless things in our lives at this very moment that deserve our appreciation, and sharing daily with our friends here that for which we are grateful.

Be sure to contribute every day, and watch, you'll feel better.

Today I am grateful for a woman who stopped traffic in her vehicle to allow me to take a safe left hand turn on a dangerous road.

I'll often here people complain about rain.

Have you ever really let it in that we need fresh water to survive, and the stuff miraculously falls from the sky? That's amazing!

    I'm grateful for rain.

I'm grateful my younger son is visiting for a week. We hit the trails in the UTV yesterday, went shooting at the range and had lunch today and are going for a hike on coastal trails tomorrow. Great times!

Regardless of how today went, I woke up today. Good. I was given the day to use as I would. Things I had to do, some things I wanted to do. Managed some of each. Good. On here, and gonna eat late dessert then watch YouTube outdoorsy stuff. Documentary or outdoorsy, doesn't matter. Good. Get to sleep under a non leaking roof, safely. Good.

It'll be good if I get the same tomorrow too. Some outside or bushcraft would be stellar, we'll see what it brings but just waking up is pretty good.

I am grateful for my phone. :)

Sounds kind of shallow, to me anyway, but.......it allows me to keep in contact with my family when I'm gone for jobs. It allows me to actually find some of the jobs I need to get to. It allows me to visit you folks when I feel like sitting down to take a break. It allows me to check the weather forecast when I need to know. I keep track of my finances and pay bills and spend a lot of money at Amazon. It allows me to listen to music and watch @bacpacjac on her channel. And @ReallyBigMonkey1 . And @Timberdogz . It allows me to get a message when my daughter gets to work so I know she made it there ok, and a message when she is getting ready come home so I know when to expect her. It allows my wife to send a message saying she misses me, "Oh, and would you stop and grab this and that on your way home." and then I end up having to make a detour to go to the store.:33:.

I am of course, grateful for so many things, but as I get ready for my first cup of coffee today and I'm holding my phone with a new screen and new battery that was installed a few days ago and the new case and screen protector I put on yesterday, I thought I'd pay tribute to "The Phone". :)

AHhhh! Thank you, @gohammergo! That is so sweet of you. I'm grateful for your friendship, John! :D

I'm also grateful to have a roof over our heads and an abundance of food on the table every day. A homeless man moved into our neighbourhood this week. He's since found a more secluded spot to stay, but he camped right in front of my house on Sunday night. I don't know his story, but keep thinking of something my Grandma used to say: "There but for the grace of God go we." :(

I am grateful that there is a hope for the hopeless and a promise of greater things to come. Sounds sappy but I cling to that hope.

On August 31, 2006 I was diagnosed with cancer. I am grateful that 13 years later I am cancer free, and am still able to get out and enjoy God's creation. I'm grateful for friends that encourage through difficult times. I am grateful for the promise of Romans 8:38-39.

Congratulations. In less than a week, I'll be 73. I just had oral surgery with 2 implants. I had the stool test for colon cancer and it was positive. But.... I've been married to the same woman for 53 years. We have 2 healthy children and 7 healthy grandchildren. I'll be going to Costa Rica next week to teach in a Seminary down there. Like most of us, the blessings outweigh the problems.

Today I am thankful for my lovely bride, and this can of Yerba Mate that I am enjoying as I ride to Vicksburg for a job. I’m thankful that I have a job I enjoy, and I am thankful that I did not invest in the stock market a year ago! I’m also thankful that no one I know has been murdered in a few years (unfortunately common where I come from). I’m thankful that my sister is no longer enduring the suffering and pain of addiction, and my friend Greg too. A few weeks ago Greg overdosed on heroin/fentanyl and died. He left behind his wife and young boy. However saddened I am by his passing, and my sister’s years ago, I can sleep well knowing they are not using the foul drugs coming into our communities. I am thankful that my sister never had children to leave behind, as much as she wanted children. I’m thankful for the first responders who tried to save my sister, who tried to save my friend Greg. I’m also thankful for this forum, because I have received much help dealing with medical issues and a severe depression. Also I’m thankful for so many members on here

No secrets. I made a solemn vow 43 years ago and I intend never to break it, come rain or shine. It requires love, humility, dedication, devotion, compassion, commitment, communication, perseverance, forgiveness, kindness, desire, honesty, hard work, sacrifice, selflessness, and much much more. My wife is my best friend.

I'm thankful for my life, my salvation, and my confidence in the assurance of that salvation in eternity, in other words, I'm thankful for the grace of GOD and the Spirit leading me to it.
I'm thankful I'm in a place and time I'm free to say the above without fear.
I'm thankful for GOD's word to me and you and the rest of us as contained in the Bible and my ability to read it and study it so as to understand it.
I'm thankful for wife, GOD's second greatest gift to me.
    I'm thankful for my family.
I'm thankful for men in my congregation and my pastors whom I can go to openly with anything.
I'm thankful for our nation but also fearful of its path in the worldly system.
I'm thankful for the blessings of a couple of great careers and my unimagined success and the freedom that success has provided me.
I'm thankful for my bosses and employees who are responsible for my career success.
I'm thankful for my dogs, especially considering I often like my dogs more than I like many people --- something I'm constantly working on.
    I'm thankful that I'm thankful.

Oh wait ... I forgot the spirit of the thread! (Damn.)

I am grateful for Portland. I go there once a year for my annual dermatology checkup. My doctor is a fellow in his 80s who still works at the teaching hospital because he loves people and it gives him purpose. He's absolutely the sweetest soul ever, and I smile every time I think him.

Today I'm grateful for my neighbors. My welding machine went bottom up during a project, but I was able to go next door and borrow my neighbors welder to finish the job. Had it finished by lunch.

I can't tell you how many times all of my neighbors have offered to help, or services. We try and be there for them any time we are able too , and it makes living here special. Best country on Earth if you ask me.

Oh my goodness, the quality of your neighbors can make or break the value of where you live. Great neighbors are one of the best things on the planet. But wow, is the converse true too.
