    Greetings,
It is official, as my holiday request has been accepted at work. June 04 - June 09 I will be going on a hiking trip in Scotland. 4 nights of hiking, travelling through the Cairngorms National Park and before that or after the hiking, a day spent in Edinburgh or Inverness, relaxing and sightseeing.

If it will be possible, it would make for a great report if I could have the TTL for that trip.

    Regards,

    Christos

That's an interesting metal container in your pic! Is it around the size of an altoids container?

Then yes it is metal. It’s a tin of ginger mints I believe from Trader Joe’s.

You know it! And it reminds us all to be aware of what shows up in some of our pics, especially when taking pictures of things on the floor and our feet are showing up. That has inspired some pretty lively conversations. :)

So I’ll be honest... I took the trail log on two outings, but they were back to back!

The first one was on a hike up saddle mountain, it was nice to be able to read about all the outings you guys have gone on and then look up from the pages and see endless mountains in almost every direction.

    59E5A9DC-AAC1-4762-9FFF-EBA2E57E0018.jpeg
The second outing I went on was to a spot I’ve been a few times now.
There is lots of wildlife in the area and some really nice forested areas and bodies of water.
There were also a few busy beavers taking advantage of the early days of spring.

Here’s the beaver swimming right by his dam
    FDA6C844-0911-485D-AD19-53C4D9233095.jpeg

I setup a tarp, had a quick fire and carved some spoon blanks.
It was a great day and exactly what I needed!

More details written in the trail log!

    Thanks everyone!

    !!SPECIAL REQUEST!!

I have a long planned outing coming up May 3-5. It’s a bushwhack through wilderness untouched in decades in search of trout. Tenkara will be the method. It involves fording a river (if possible and safe). And there may or may not be 5 or 6 other MOA members along who may or may not also want to make entries.

If it pleases the gentlemen ahead of me. I would humbly request the log for our adventure.

    Evan, MOA #22

I will check the tracking number later, I had to do the slowest shipping method, even that cost $30.00. That box is getting full!

It shouldn’t ever cost over what the flat rate box rate is, why so much?

Flat rate boxes have a max weight. Exceed it and you have to start paying more.

Yabbut... this started as a small flat rate. I think the weight limit on a large flat rate is 80 pounds or something silly like that.

Sounds like people need to start taking some stuff out of that box, instead of adding more stuff in lol.

For sure, I hate that it cost you that much to ship. Maybe next round you can pull some stuff out to call your own that will make up for that expense.

Yeah, I really struggled with what to keep, what to send on, and what to add. And it will continue to get bigger unless we all just take more out than we intended to. There’s just so much cool stuff that we want everyone to share and experience.

It’s all good, I enjoyed reading and seeing everything from all the outings. So it was worth it, and way more enjoyable than wasting $30.00 at a bar haha

Yes it is fun, but I think somewhere up this thread we agreed on a max size for the box. 30 bucks is a lot IMO. Let’s discuss how to deal with this. Paging @CivilizationDropout , this is your baby. What say you?

Maybe we need to stop including things from our outings?
Unless something is requested by the next recipient of the TTL, like fatwood or birchbark or whatever.

Also as far as what I payed for shipping, keep in mind that I’m in Portland, where every single thing is way more expensive than it needs to be for no reason at all. It may be cheaper for others.

Did you use a USPS large flat rate box through USPS? That’s a set standardized rate nationwide.

I used a standard rate fedex, whenever I get out of work the post office is closed.
