So, I typed up a whole little thing about box size this morning and I guess it didn't post.

The long and short of it is thus; I think until we whittle the package size down, an 'add one: take two' rule should be enacted for anything you want to send. I put it that way because I learned long ago (when I was a wee tinder gatherer of thirty messages, a dozen likes and 100 likes given) that you CAN NOT stop BCUSA members from sending stuff to other members.

Let's pare it back down to a lighter load though eh? At any point, ANY one of you can clear out the box and keep the balance without feeling guilty. Just remember to pop your tinder, trinket or such into a small flat rate box with the log and ship it off.

    'Rah?

    Yes, RAH!

Idea: Let’s have the next recipient whittle the log down to a small flat rate and put the rest of it into a GAW that @CivilizationDropout runs, for a new or nominated member. That way the log moves along (cheaply) and the goodies go to a new home.

I will pay the shipping from the guy that makes the split, to the winner of the GAW.

Here is an idea. Since when I receive the box it will actually be going to like 5 or 6 people. I will sprinkle the goodies among us and only place back in “my” portion as the keeper on my turn. That should slim it up a bit.

Just went through the entire thread, as this is the first I have seen it. Okay maybe I did not read every single post but eleven pages is a lot. Very cool @CivilizationDropout I want in but not sure if when it gets to me I will be able to have a trail log worthy entry. So for now I will just follow along!

    You are on the list!

If you find yourself with an impending trip you find worthy; just request the log and we will do what we are able to get it to you on time. That goes for everyone!

    This makes sense to me.
Just have the members of the expedition sign the trail log.

I’m hoping each member will make a full entry with their impressions of the trip.

@CivilizationDropout look what I have.. here is the skinny.. tomorrow is Easter.. the next weekend will be the only time I can get some legit woods time. What I'm gonna do is an afternoon outting first of the week so I can get this dude to our bearded brawdy @Luchtaine for his trip. If I cut my time short can I be put back on the list please ? I'll throw in the cash to cover shipping so I can have a good time with it.

    The contents..
Lots of cool stuff, one item was immediately confiscated by my human Bushcraft partner.
    20190421_180237.jpg
6 year old girls can be pretty convincing some times. It's in good hands anyway!
    20190421_181538.jpg
Used junipe, birch bark and some fatwood shavings from the box. Used my GNS and my LTWK ferro rod to light it. First time using it for this.
    20190421_181703.jpg
Brewed me a cup of the bushcraft blend coffee.
    20190421_182001.jpg
While the coffee was on the fire, I applied some deer tallow to my sheath.
    20190421_183244.jpg
Once the coffee was done I enjoyed the log in a spot worthy of doing so.
    20190421_185130.jpg
I kept it short and sweet for this round. I want to make sure I can get this in the mail early this week. I have School awards in the afternoon most of the week so today was the only day I could get out and not worry about it not making it on time. @CivilizationDropout please put me back on the list brawdy!

    Greetings,

The TTL participants keep on giving outstanding trip reports! Well done @Sinjin and @Bushcraft-kelso!

It won't be cheap for sure when sent overseas to me next time. Shipping overseas can be overwhelming if large weight included. May I suggest that one or more or all of the following ideas be implemented so that the one who sents it to the UK doesn’t have a fit at the post office counter?:)

I am most happy that she likes it!:)

If and only if the next participants in line after @Luchtaine's planned trip in May agree to, I would like to request the TTL for my hiking trip to Scotland taking place 03/06 - 09/06. This being an international shipping effort, I am thinking about possible delays and it would be nice to plan for them in advance.

No worries if not though. It's been so much fun being a part of this that I will think of another TR if necessary when my time comes again down the line. :)

    Regards,

    Christos

Christos, if the log doesn’t make it to you in time for your trip, at least use this page to make a record of the outing.

    Greetings,

Today I got up from bed and I felt a disturbance in the air... Flatulence can do that, among other things, so I didn't pay it much attention. But it persisted while I was drinking my morning coffee and finally I had to pay it attention. It was like a siren call, or in this case instead of the sirens it led me to Gatwick. On my way there by bus, I brought something to pass my time, wondering what was my 6th sense up to.

    unnamed (2).jpg

This is where it led me, a courier depot.

    unnamed (3).jpg

There was light, the door was slightly open and curious I got in. There was a gentleman at the counter who greeted me with a smile and said "Hello sir, just in time you are here, as there is something for you to pick up."

    unnamed (4).jpg

To be honest , i thought it was a trick, until I saw a name I recognised, my own! There was also mention of this:

    unnamed (5).jpg

Naturally , I decided to accept it and brought it back home with me.

    I don't know about that...

    Greetings,

Indeed, a wooden saw. Not that I am planning on building a log cabin, but i will take it with me on my trip for a first test.

Gentlemen, 8 days counting till next Monday. That's when I am leaving for my trip to Scotland. I'll be taking the TTL log with me and with it all of you to keep me company reading your own adventures since the last time it was in my hands. :)

    I can barely wait. :D

    Regards,

    Christos

I have started uploading photos at my Scotland thread. Will take some time, as there's a lot I want to share.

Right, who is next? To whom should I ship the TTL?

    Greetings,

I am fully aware that I am taking advantage of the situation, but something interesting came up and I will put the question to all of you.

    OPTION 1:
This Friday I send the TTL to the US.

    OPTION 2:
Next Monday 08/07 I fly to Helsinki, Finland. 3 days there I will spent and another 3 at a cabin in the middle of a forest and in front of a lake. There's also high chance I may get to meet a fellow BCUSA member.

    What say you all?

    Regards,

    Christos

    Greetings,

What say you @Young Blacksmith, as you are the next recipient and will be delayed a bit in the acquisition of the TTL?

Also. what say you @CivilizationDropout as the OP creator?

@Staleym, get on the list and you will. It's my second time around this time and I can't emphasise enough the pleasure of reading the other participants exploits!

    As it says in the OP;

That's a new outing, it's already in hand. I say do it to it and off to @Young Blacksmith or the next ready participant on your return.

Last known position was @Quinlan with the intention of a rendezvous with @Luchtaine for cache retrieval and further deployment.

    Where are we now?

I have the cache and an address which I will send it to this week. As far as I know the log has been shipped.

    Greetings,

RM effed up and returned the TTL last week to me. It turns out it was "sitting" comfortably at a local depot... I am just glad that it didn't happen overseas and got lost like my 2018 SS for which I still haven't got an answer from them.

Overtime and double shifts didn't allow me to visit the post office since then. In addition, in a few hours I am flying to Greece and will be back on 28/08. However, I am pissed off by my inability to finally return it to the US after such a long time and I don't want to delay anymore. I am taking it with me and will send it from Greece on Wednesday.

My sincere apologies to all TTL members.

    Regards,

    Christos

    Greetings,

As a concept, indeed it is cool to add another country to it. However, this will be a family vacation, plus my sister is getting married, no bushcraft stuff involved. :)

    Regards,

    Christos

Still... jotting down a little something before slipping it in the mail would be acceptable I think.
