    Sorry! 26"!!

Heading out to run some errands, and then hit my brook trout puddle out in the middle of nowhere.

Not everyone has memory lapses, but here's an idea: whenever someone gets the box, maybe take a picture of what's inside it in case you lose the box? LOL I know I would have been sunk if @Primordial hadn't taken a picture of the box from the get-go. Just a thought.

Anyway, heading out the door. Pics to follow whether I catch anything or not.

So, today I went to the first place I ever caught a brookie. I figured virtually no pressure out here and the buggers would be hungry.

That's not a dirty lens, it's snowing. I went across that log to get to that little finger out there.

First I used a Colorado spoon. I got a couple of strikes, but I figured the hook was too big. So, back across the log I went (sort of) get the box over by my pack.

Sidestep carefully, and whoops! That channel is almost to my waist with the runoff. Glad my butt landed on the log.

Back to the box, grab it. Back to the log. Sidestep across again out to the finger. Overcast. A Colorado is silver and gold together. Dig out the gold kastmaster, only 1" long or so. Started casting again, pulling through where I had the strikes.

    8-9 casts laster, and success!

    KIMG0642.JPG

This is one of the better sized ones for my area, it was about 8", nice! It lived to fight another day, didn't plan on keeping any today.

Mission accomplished, did some other looking around.

    KIMG0639.JPG
Picked a few of those up to make stuff.

    Saw these too: KIMG0644.JPG

And to wrap up the outing, sat on a rock by the rapids for about half an hour.

    KIMG0649.JPG

Thanks @Primordial for starting this! May there be more outings and beautiful fish to follow as the box makes its way!

Excellent! That looked like a great outing! I'm glad you had success and came across some interesting finds!

Also, much thanks for adding even more lures to the box! That's mighty nice of you. :) :dblthumb:

Well fellas and fellets I am finally able to post a little, I tried out every lure on the lake I was on over memorial, no luck. Tried them all at a few of my favorite spots on the river and still no luck! I even struck out with my go to lures from my own box though. Got out today for one last go at it with my son and still nothing here. I have been wanting to try these little sweet pea style lures for a long time, just wish I had time to get up in to some of the Oregon high lakes where they would really shine. Regardless of the bad luck (or operator error) we still had a lot of fun trying out new lures. I'll be sending them off to the next in line as soon as I can. Again thank you all for including me in this pass around! 0F18A674-D5DE-44D5-925A-877E7764D880.jpeg 887513EF-599F-4AF3-89BF-2BA838BE33E2.jpeg

Oh, I'll tell ya, even if you hate spam, after a long day fishing hard on the lake with no luck, some sliced spam sauteed on a skillet over a fire with a can of beans on the side can seem gourmet... :7:

Not to make excuses or throw anybody under the bus, but the current holder of the box has contacted me recently. He has been in and out of the hospital, and hasn’t had a chance to mail it yet.

    Guys,

I’ve been a super slacker. I have the box in my possession but have been so jammed busy with work and family and life problems that I haven’t gotten anywhere near the pond. I’ve never done a passaround before, I’m not sure what the etiquette is on how long to hold the box.

I think/hope I can get to the pond this weekend, but it’s gonna be in the hundreds.

Stay hydrated, sometimes water doesn't cut it. They have unflavored Pedialyte, and most bigger grocery chains have their own generic version. No real taste to speak of and it works good with a lot less sugar than Gatorade.

I hear ya there! Life sure does get in the way sometimes.

In my experience, really hot temps like that. Everything stops being active. Even ticks! Then once the sun goes down it livens back up.
I used to go out at night. Fish all night. Then goto work. But these days I got energy for one or the other. Not both and work always wins.

So I feel really bad about taking so long. If everybody doesn’t mind the little bit of extra shipping, I’m gonna throw in one of my “Goldilocks” lures for the 9 people after me. At least, I think I have 9 left. It’s just a little gold spoon for a store I used to own that I shut down a long time ago.

I'm just an observer here, have no dog in the hunt...

But may I make a suggestion?

Now and moving forward, anybody who has the box and is unable to complete the tasks (fish a time or two, report on it, swap some lures) within a month's time, go ahead and pass it along. A month is a reasonable amount of time to have the opportunity to go out at least once, wouldn't you think?

This is not meant to be a criticism of any holders who don't complete the tasks - on the contrary, it's meant to be a relief. Sometimes life gets in the way and what was supposed to be a fun game turns into a burden weighing upon you, you keep putting it off but still feel obligated to do it, adds stress. No reason for that, that's not the intent here. Just give it a pass.

This is @Primordial's thread so it's his call if he wants to adopt this time constraint or not.

Either way, all good, staying tuned for some more fishing pics...
