    Morning!

I just wanted to share an issue I've been having. Due to the quality of photos my phone takes, they avg between 2.6 and 3.5MB. Most newer phones take photos that are in this size range now a days. I understand that larger file sizes means longer loads on image heavy posts as well as heavier loads on the forum.

My suggestion still would be to increase the current limit from 2.9 even just a smidgen to like 3.1 would make my life easier when sharing images. 4MB would be standard on most newer forums I've come across, where as 2-3MB is standard on older forums in my personal experience. I have actually already reduced the quality on my phone just to make them this much smaller on avg.

I do not sometimes when I drag images larger than 2.9MB they do still work, but sometimes they come up as undefined uploads in my upload list.

I can manually resize them, I know how to do that, for uploads but I also worry others might not have that skill or take that time so it might reduce sharing from those with newer phones?

Thanks for having a place I could make this suggestion. :)

I'll toss in my experience with photos. I've found I will upload a pic and it will show as a fingernail. The second upload begins and the first disappears. I struggle thru and post. I then find I have duplicate pics. Before I start the second upload. I hit the "more options button" there's the first pic. Don't know why it does that. But you haven't always lost your upload.

Isn't the size adjustable on your phone? I think you can just tell the phone to take a smaller pic.

Yes, I actually have already reduced it from 3000x4000 ultra HD 16MP down to 12MP so they aren't all 7-8MB. However some photos really get a lot from that higher resolution, particularly nature ones! Sharper more detailed images. So Id on't really like to take photos smaller by default because I'm missing out on some really nice quality photos sometimes.

My phone only goes down so far, too. It's something like 3MB. It will only make the file smaller if emailing them.
So I've just gotten in the habit of resizing all my pics. Even my camera's pics.
    Edit>Select All>Resize. Done.

Any pics I take with my phone I transfer to my laptop and adjust size using a program called GIMP. I am using linux but I believe there is a window's version too. This is the only way I can get them downsized enough, anywhere from 200k or less to around 600k in size.

The photo quality is the reason and I happen to like good quality pics.
This is actually about 4-5 phones ago, so a lot less quality than current phones, and when not rezised, could make a poster of my favourite accidental snap.
If I would have had to start going trough settings the moment would be gone.

Yep. That's part of the point of my request if it is possible to increase the upload limit. Even if we reduced the image post limit maybe from 10 to 8 but incased it from 2.9 to 3.5 at least? Ideally I would like 4 so we could get some higher res stuff posted.

But, of course you can post any size you want if you do it offsite. That is what I do, then no worries about the size at all.

A free terrabyte of space at Flickr... free... works...

Until they turn off hotlinking or go down and you end up with a ton of broken image links like most of the bushclass threads, haha. <3

there's a download or something that allows you to see those images. Can't remember what it is off the top of my head but I am able to see all the broken links on my laptop. Made a huge help but only on the laptop lol.

Hmm I haven’t been down sizing. It takes a long time to upload unless I’m at work. I might try that GIMPy thing @lil'mike

Does it work well for u?

    Gorgeous pic @KFF and I hear u

@Carabnr Thanks, I was picking chantarelles and kneeling in the moss when I happened to glimpse to the side and there was my honeyboy posing perfectly. Sure as heck no time to adjust anything, just snap it with the phone.
With my current phone it's set to 23MP

That's another thing, don't use a laptop and the mac is so old and outdated that it only works as a telly. So everything must be done on the phone.
