Since I completed my Hardwoodsman videos last year, I haven't really made any new videos for my own use. I took my son on a trip a couple weeks ago and shot quite a bit of video. However, it seems my phone did a software update and my videos are now in a 4k format. I can save it to my computer, but I only get audio and no video. Has anyone had this issue and how can it be solved? Thanks!

What is your video player? Is it updated?

    Not had the issue.

Have you tried VLC Media Player.
Play’s just about every video format.

Windows Media Play. I don't think it has been updated. How do I do that?

Just downloaded it and it is working. I'll have to figure out how to make it the default so I don't have to switch it to VLC every time. Thanks!

VLC was my next choice, I think my windows plays everything I throw at it, if I have an issue I normally just convert it to a different format.

I may try to uninstall the windows media player and then reinstall it, since that is what I'm used to. But at least I have something with VLC.

There is a way to make Windows default to VLC but I cannot think of it off the top of my head, if I remember correctly it was easy.

Maybe right click on the icon for the menu, darn just can’t think of it.

My preferred video player is Media Player Classic. Been using it for years. https://mpc-hc.org/

How to Make VLC the Default Media Player in Windows 10
    1. Click on the Windows Start button, search for and go to Settings.
    2. Click on Apps.
    3. Access the Default apps.
    4. Under Choose Default apps, for the Video player click on Movies & TV and switch to VLC Media Player. If you want to do it for music files as well, do the same thing for the choice present as Music player.

It's been years for me, but used to be if you browsed to the actual file, you could shift-click on it (or maybe right click) and then choose what to open it with from a list of possible programs. I'm not a Windows guy. @Indianaboy has better info.

There is a tech support area here, also.
