"The House quietly voted last week to require the Pentagon inspector general to tell Congress whether the department experimented with weaponizing disease-carrying insects and whether they were released into the public realm — either accidentally or on purpose."

Interesting but not surprising. Seems the gubmint circulated blankets to some folks at one time.

I won't lie. I was hoping that this was a link to some place like The Onion.

Need some time to think about this. I am a combination of angry, baffled, and entirely un-surprised.

Anyone remember that free ebook from the British government on subversion in occupied territory? It was from WW2.

@Harper already mentioned an article and speaker recently about this "theory" and a few people thought he was silly for even bringing it up. I don't know how true this is yet, but I wouldn't put it past them.

If you remember lots of people said since the late 70s the NSA was listening to its own people here in the US, and everybody else thought they were "crazy conspiracy theorists". Come a few years ago and everyone found out they really were all that time and all the sudden the tables were flipped and those "conspiracy theorists" weren't so crazy after all.

Will this turn out similar? I don't know but I wouldn't doubt it. Even if they don't admit it right now, how many decades did it take to fess up to Agent Orange, Gulf War Syndrome, or dozens of other similar things that were asked about many times over. We still have people dying from that.

I mentioned you in my last post actually. Like I said when you posted then, I wouldn't put anything past them! Maybe even if they don't fully admit it well get some kind of answers.

Regardless this will be good exposure for the related diseases.

Our government is but one example. We’ve dabbled in pathogens and poisons since before the ‘Trail of Tears’, even the British while campaigning against the French in eastern Canada graciously distributed blankets to populations that ceased to be useful(previous to our Declaration of Independence).
Diseased cadavers and carrion and any sort of nasties were catapulted and trebucheted over the walls of communities under siege all through the Middle Ages.
Fleas were the mechanism for the widespread Black Plague.
Frankly, I’d be surprised if ticks as a means of dispersal hadn’t been explored, by others as well as our own militaries.

Suffice it to say, you are not alone in this.

Edit: I would add that there are far too many people who have experience with this. :(

The article mentioned that it was.

The big question is even if the Pentagon released that the current "plague" of ticks and related diseases was a direct result of Bergdorfer irradiating and genetically modifying ticks...then what? If that is really the case, the genie is out of the lamp. Good luck getting it back in.

True. But people afflicted with it might get a little better treatment, medically, and humanly. Not as if they were making something up.

They should already. Who says chronic Lyme symptoms couldn’t be something else. It’s not like ticks don’t carry like a hundred plus little nasties that only a handful we are actively looking for.

    Agreed.

Perhaps they'll be more likely to exercise restraint when creating the next generation of weapons.

Also, they may already have an antidote. Or, at least, more information not available to public researchers that could lead to one.

I’ve heard rumors of this forever and have done a little digging myself. It’s all very suspicious. The facts are Lyme disease is new, within the last 40 or so years. It also started and spread from one point in the Northeast. Tick populations, at least in my area, have skyrocketed in the last 10 years. I know multiple people with Lyme and am amazed I haven’t contracted it yet. But the way congress works we won’t get any answers...

It’s not new, it’s described in medical texts that are over a century old. However the symptoms from not treating it were never correctly attributed until 40 or so years ago.

It most likely is and it is probably an experiment to see if ticks are an effective disperser of disease. Lymes might have been invented just to be something that the population had not been exposed to before so it’s path and timing could be accurately followed. I’d be more concerned what they really plan to infect the ticks with when they release them for real.

Without trying to be to conspirative here, if ticks were militarized...

If you released several millions of ticks in an area with just lyme, much less several other tickborne diseases, and they effectively transmitted it to millions of people it could be pretty devastating.
If it affected (crippled) "Fighting Age Males" in the population as well as those making food or goods, including military goods, it would make it pretty easy (easier) for a group of military to go into the area and "clean up". If nothing else it would make them dependent for treatment, much less not able to effectively fight back.

Take Vietnam just as a for instance.

Just imagine what a dangerous disease that kills in a few days or months being carried instead could do. Now design a tick that will die (on command) when the temp drops; release them in September and walk in unopposed in October after the first frost.

That doesn't mean it wasn't weaponized and made worse.

I know it sounds like a bad movie, but don't overlook the Nazi angle.

Isn’t a Nazi angle. The US was looking for ways to break trench warfare. The guy who worked on the program said as much. They were supposedly looking for non deadly dibilitating diseases that could be treated so we could push through stagnated lines.

    There is a Nazi angle.

They might not have been the first to come up with it (I don't know) but they had programs. We brought their scientists and research back (along with rocket scientists, Nazi Intel officers, etc.) through Operation Paperclip. No problem there since the Soviets would have scooped them up otherwise. But then we put them to work.

NDN= Indian. I didn't even notice I abbreviated it when I posted that haha my bad.

No talk to text, how I typed it lol. Good guess though because you were correct!

You'll see most younger (native) folks using NDN, N8, or N8tv as an abbreviation for Indian or Native. I don't know where or why that started but it's a thing.

True, and some did work for the US on this but the US was already studying it because the Japanese were actively using it on the Chinese.

I watched the movie "Contagion" the other day. It's a virus that wipes out a good chunk of the humans on the planet. Once "they" contain the virus the CDC places it in Cryo next to some of the really bad stuff from years past. I live in Atlanta and know CDC people and it's scary to think they have a locker that has the nastiest viruses from all over the world. Disaster is just one Government worker oops away.

We also brought some of their scientists (including the infamous Unit 731) over under the same program.
