    Guess I'll start if off.

My name as you might have guessed is Eric, I am in Rio Rancho.

I've done 3 nights out so far this year and by Monday will have that total at 6.

    Good to meet you guys.

My name is Steve and I'm in Roswell, I'm a retired Police Officer/Chief of Police and now work in the movie business as a prop maker and numerous other areas and also work in a firearms store. Haven't gotten out any at all this year yet.

All the fire restrictions sure don't help things. I had to change locations of this weekends trip several times.

Sounds like you may know a gentleman by the name of Dave Augustson from these parts, he used to run a gun shop down here and now is an armorer and consultant for films. I used to wrestle with his son.

I currently do Quality Control for a Sprint call center.

I do know Dave, has a shop in Rio Rancho, at least he used to have and had some pretty neat stuff in his shop. He supplies a few movie weapons. Took an armorers class from him. He knows his stuff. Very cool, small world.
Yep the restrictions suck greatly, have been wanting to take my adopted grandson out but it's tuff with the Lincolen Natl forest completely shut down.

Hadent really decided as it's been pretty hot, maybe up outside Ruidoso or over by Cloudcroft. Would like to go up by Boyscout Mt. also but it's so dry and hot, may just take him down to lake Van and break out the old cane pole for some simple fishing. I'll think of something.

I diden't even put in for the draw this year so no big game for me unless a rich uncle or someone gives me a landowner tag. I'll have to settle for birds, squirrels, rabbits and fish that isif they don't all die off from the heat and drought or get toasted by fire.

Howdy fellas. I just came across this thread. It seems like there should be a lot more new Mexicans on this forum. New Mexico has got to be one of the better places for outdoor activities. I live on Eldorado ( near Santa Fe). I'm a ranch foreman for a property up the Pecos canyon and another up in Chama. We've got to see what we can do to get more use out of this subforum.

Hey all, I live in Georgia now but am originally from Albuquerque as a kid. Just a quick story, when I moved out here a few years ago and went to the DMV to get my driver's license, I was turned away by the first lady at the window because I marked my birthplace as New Mexico and "you need to bring in your immigration papers."
Apparently no one explained that NM has been a state for oh, right around 100 years. :D

How funny is that. Whan I was a kid my cousins that live in Michigan used to think that we still had to circle up the wagons to help defend against Indian attacks.

I've favorites this subforum now so I think new posts will pop up on my phone. I like the idea of having some local banter. I've been on bushcraftusa for a while and just now found this section. Maybe some more folks will fond it too.

Howdy guys. Just came across this. I spent most of my career in Rio Rancho. Retired from the PD there a few years ago as an Lt. I've also lived in Grants and Alamogordo. I'm living down in Phoenix for now working at Intel. Only went camping once this year, with my grandsons.

Checking in from Albuquerque. Another party guilty of not noticing this sub forum section.
Headed out tomorrow actually with my girls, (wife and 3 year old) probably just noodle around the foothills east end of Menaul but enough to just get out and get a little outside time in.

Not a fan of the snow personally.

I'm not in NM now, but am just across the line in Eastern AZ. We used to live in Artesia when I instructed at FLETC. Years ago we lived in Lordsburg, but that's another story.

Hello all, Phil here from Rio Rancho. We should have a get-together sometime. It would be great to share knowledge and maybe stomping grounds! I will definitely be keeping an eye on the NM section of the forum!

I live near Glenwood, in the sw part of the state. I've posted some on this forum, but never realized there was a New Mexico group. I was born and raised near ABQ (south valley and east mtns), and have explored, hunted and fished all over the state all my life. Now it's the Gila country for me.

Hey everyone. Im Ezra and i'm up in Santa Fe. I love fly fishing, hiking and any excuse to get outside and explore. I love bushcraft because it allows me to connect with nature in the closest and most basic way possible. I've done a tiny bit of blacksmithing and ive gotten pretty good at leather sheath making. I'd like to meet other members of the community here in the land of enchantment so shoot me and email if you want. :D
