We were recently on a guided hike through a part of a state park closed to visitors 9 months of the year, and only accessible in the winter months with a state park ranger . The area we were in creates its own micro climate and plants and trees grow there that are like 300 miles west of their normal range . One is a tree called a shag hickory , or maybe shagbark hickory . They have some in the park but won’t tell anyone where or let them in the area to see them specifically because of this . There are more than a few a-holes and idiots in the human population , unfortunately .

This is the best argument for an actual factual “well regulated militia”... “Guys, the park rangers are furloughed. We need you to get out and protect the trees.”

    Stuff like this.

I'd be happy to replace the management and get volunteers as new staff.

I am not saying things like this didn't happen when I was growing up, but I will say that the number of real parents teaching respect has been declining for years. It is sad. joe

A state park here in Arkansas has an extremely rare orchid. There were lots of them and they used to give tours. Unfortunately, despite its protection, modern people think they have right to it instead of everyone enjoying it. Now there are only three known plants in the park, no more tours and they won't even tell a lot of the employees where they are anymore.
    Pretty sad.

Thats really sad ive seen an episode of mick dodge where people come in and cut part of a maple tree in washington state forest for wood intruments or veneer furniture boy mick was really stoked. I would be too not to push a button but they have people here in moorhead,mn that are a lot people protesting who use outdoor smokers and outdoor fireplaces and outdoor fire pits because of the wood smoke

I absolutely agree that this is where the problem starts. Unfortunately the word “parent” doesn’t seem to have the same meaning that it once did.

Unfortunately this happens all the time. On Ohio's wildlife areas people think it's fine to use the closed areas as their personal off road site, start camp fires, dump their trash, etc.

An area a few miles from where I hunt is a hotbed for UTV riders. On any given Saturday there will be 20+ trucks with large trailers capable of loading 2 side by side UTVs in a large parking area. The forest service put up a metal gate to keep riders from accessing woods not designated for riding. There is a clear trail cut in not more than 12'-15' to one side of the locked gate. Some folks have an entitlement mentality and have no respect for those who come after them.
I think they are related to the folks that park in those imaginary parking spaces located one slot closer to the front of stores than the handicapped parking spots... They have also been known to drive through clearly marked parking spaces from one side of the parking lot to the extreme other side to get to their imaginary parking space.
