What song are you listening to right at this moment? What artists have you recently gotten into? What are some of your favorite songs?

Youtube links are appreciated.

I can't stop playing this on repeat!

I normally listen to classical in my office, but with the continuing effects of a concussion I have been working wight he lights of and this on my browser: http://www.noisli.com

I use a blend of running water, blowing leaves, and gentle forest sounds. Works well.

Although I listen to many types of music

I am a fan of Reggae, Red Dirt, Rock, Rockabilly, Irish fold, Flamenco, classical, Prog Rock, art rock, (with Pick Floyd being a food group its own right), Old R and B, Frank Sinatra to Frank Zappa, Bill Withers to Bill Monroe, Pete Yorn to Pete Seeger, I also am a big fan (and player) of Bluegrass. Since I am, at this moment visiting the Front Range of Colorado where Hot Rize came from and where I discovered them back in 84, I am listen to Hot Rize a lot since I awoke. Columbian Coffee, Raw Colorado Honey, and Front Range Bluegrass with Hot rise. A great way to wake up.

My favorite playlist on my Kindle includes Simon & Garfunkle, Neal Diamond, CCR, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Janis Joplin, Iron Butterfly, Led Zeppelin, Jefferson Airplane (before they grew up and became a starship), and a few others from my youth.

Recently I purchased a CD by Korpiklaani, a Finnish folk-rock band. Can't understand a word they say but the music is pretty dynamic. Head-banging stuff.

I also like classical music like Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, etc. and real classical stuff by Beethoven, Chopan, Greig and the rest of the longhairs.

A wide range of music depending on the mood: 80's metal, older country music (George Jones, Mickey Gilly, Merle haggard), some rap and electronic. But the last few years it has been a lot of powermetal with bands like Nightwish, Sonata Arctica, Stratovarious. Just recently came across Halestorm out of Pennsylvania:

Now if someone really wants something different, by a group that looks like they just crawled out of the bush, and which seems to seems to really like their alcohol; check out this folk metal band that thought it would be a good idea to include an accordion and a violin:

Just as this post came in to view scrolling down in the Portal, I was listening to Sweet Little Sixteen, That's My queen on a website that plays a lot of Golden Oldies from the 50's and 60s. Since ITunes started playing games with their radio service I found an alternative site to get my "oldies fix".

For those into this genre of music the link is http://doowopexpress.rad.io/. It looks funny but that's what is in the URL locator window. And it's totally free 24/7 with a few commercials but nothing compared to regular broadcast radio over the air.

This Saturday night, El Monte Legion Stadium,
Be there or be square, no Levis or Capris please!

Right now Amon Amarth:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FVAQQujgSxQ

Next up: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Lc9F95XwYi4

Their guitar stuff is insane.

Love the korpiklaani (also check out their songs Tuli Kokko, Ukon Wacka, Päät Pois Tai Hirteen, Etc), and the old Nightwish mentioned above, old Metallica, AC/DC, etc

When listening to lighter stuff, dig Blackmore's Night, Loreena McKennitt, and some good bluegrass.

It's Puddles Pity Party. Need I say more. Stumbled across this a while back and fell in love with this from the start.

Put it on full screen and watch him and I dare you not to smile at "The Sad Clown with the Golden Voice".

Haha I decided a while back whoever created BABYMETAL deserves the Nobel Prize for science, they introduce paradigms and conundrums unheard of even in Japan. I would have loved to be in on that meeting.. "Okay so cutey teen pop idol groups are popular.." "But Death Metal is also popular.." "I have an IDEA!" :1:

Old Crow Medicine Show, The Dubliners, anything with a celtic/bluegrass/folk sound here lately.

If you like blues check out Dave Earl. He's a street performer in San Francisco. Has a few YouTube videos.

My favorite response to babymetal was, "somewhere deep in a dark norwegian forest, there's a metalhead wearing corpse paint and crying really, really hard."

Really oddly fascinating to watch, and that band deserves some serious academic study.

Lucy was 7 and wore a head of blue barrettes City born, into this world with no knowledge and no regrets Had a piece of yellow chalk with which she'd draw upon the street The many faces of the various locals that she would meet There was Joshua, age 10, bully of the block
Who always took her milk money at the morning bus stop There was Mrs. Crabtree and her poodle She always gave a wave and holler
On her weekly trip down to the bingo parlor And she drew Men, women, kids, sunsets, clouds And she drew
Skyscrapers, fruit stands, cities, towns Always said hello to passers-by They'd ask her why she passed her time Attaching lines to concrete, but she would only smile Now all the other children living in or near her building Ran around like tyrants, soaking up the open fire hydrants They would say "Hey, little Lucy, wanna come jump double dutch?" Lucy would pause, look, grin and say "I'm busy, thank you much" Well, well, one year passed and believe it or not She covered every last inch of the entire sidewalk And she stopped- "Lucy, after all this, you're just giving in today??" She said: "I'm not giving in, I'm finished," and walked away
1-2-3, that's the speed of the seed
A-B-C, that's the speed of the need
You can dream a little dream or you can live a little dream
I'd rather live it, cause dreamers always chase but never get it
Now Lucy was 37, and introverted somewhat Basement apartment in the same building she grew up in She traded in her blue barettes for long locks held up with a clip Traded in her yellow chalk for charcoal sticks And she drew Little bobby who would come to sweep the porch And she drew The mailman, delivered everyday at 4 Lucy had very little contact with the folks outside her cubicle day But she found it suitable, and she liked it that way She had a man now: Rico, similar, hermit They would only see each other once or twice a week on purpose They appreciated space and Rico was an artist too So they'd connect on saturdays to share the pictures that they drew (Look!) Now every month or so, she'd get a knock upon the front door Just one of the neighbors Actin nice, although she was a strange girl, really Say, "Lucy, wanna join me for some lunch??" Lucy would smile and say "I'm busy, thank you much" And they would make a weird face the second the door shut And run and tell their friends how truly crazy Lucy was And lucy knew what people thought but didn't care Cuz while they spread their rumors through the street She'd paint another masterpiece
Lucy was 87, upon her death bed At the senior home, where she had previously checked in Traded in the locks and clips for a head rest Traded in the charcoal sticks for arthritis, it had to happen And she drew no more, just sat and watched the dawn Had a television in the room that she'd never turned on Lucy pinned up a life worth's of pictures on the wall And sat and smiled, looked each one over, just to laugh at it all Now Rico, he had passed, 'bout 5 years back So the visiting hours pulled in a big flock o' nothin She'd never spoken once throughout the spanning of her life Until the day she leaned forward, grinned and pulled the nurse aside And she said: "Look, I've never had a dream in my life Because a dream is what you wanna do, but still haven't pursued I knew what I wanted and did it till it was done So i've been the dream that I wanted to be since day one!" Well! The nurse jumped back She'd never heard Lucy even talk 'Specially words like that She walked over to the door, and pulled it closed behind Then Lucy blew a kiss to each one of her pictures And she died

Yeah I have watched that one I posted so many times now, it is so strangely fascinating. DEATH DEATH DEATH! Sung by two 14 year olds and a 16 year old girl wearing goth lolita costumes. Apparently the girls did not even know what metal actually was when they got the gig lol.

Anyway back on topic and to get this off the metal kick it seems to be on. Here's one that has been going through my head a lot lately for whatever reason. Stars, Canadian Indie on Arts & Crafts. Wonderful band, wonderful album, wonderful song. Just wonderful.

I'll have to think about how I approach this thread if it sticks around lol I know WAY too much about music.
