As a complete gun with matched barrels - if it’s reasonably priced, I’d snap it up.

I have a nickel .20g/357 set in a fold in half canvas bag. Topper 58 model. Rifle barrel has sights and tapped for scope. I like it a lot and would love a 30-30 for the right price.

I'd be a buyer if $300 or under.

There's a 30-30 barrel on ebay for $500, painted with paint chipping off.

    Who in their right mind?!?

I'm tempted to get one. It's still new in box.

    Do it!!!

I had the NEF 30-30/12 ga combo and wish I had kept it. Most of my Handi Rifle experiences were bad, but the 30-30 was very good within 30-30 limits.

When they were cheap I think one could get over how heavy the barrels were but for the cost of what people are asking today your money is much wiser spent on a different type of rifle.

I have the older case hardened version in 20 ga with straight stock and I enjoy carrying it specifically for quail hunting as it involves a lot of walking in the hills.

It's thin so I can easily wrap my hand around the receiver/barrel and it's as light as my semi-autos. If it was heavier by even a little I'd leave it behind in favor of my semi's. The light weight of these older case hardened guns is what makes them sort of special IMO.

    No they are not.

With the rifle barrel it's a + 7 lb gun, and add 1 lb if it has a scope. There are many much better options for 7 lb rifle!

My 20 ga single weighs around 5.5 lbs. I wouldn't backpack with it but that's a nice weight for long day in the field. My 20 ga semi-autos weight that much and I found that 5.5 lbs seems to be a really pleasant weight for carrying but still good to keep recoil manageable.
