When I bought my "Swiss" mess kit in stainless about 10 years ago, I found it on a UK military surplus website. (only place I could find one, and don't remember the name)
I have 3 of the aluminum versions but always coveted the stainless version. Cost me just a hair under $100 bucks with shipping from across the pond but it is literally the greatest piece of kit I own. (next to my gun & knife) It's heavy and takes up space in a pack, but it's well worth it once you start cooking with it. Try checking UK surplus stores, maybe you'll get lucky.

The SWEDISH mess kit comes in stainless... Don't know about any Swiss one. That will aid your search. Trangia stove often comes with it.

I have a German mess kit. Again, never heard of one coming in Stainless, just better or worse aluminum alloy, with the real West German ones being better quality. I probably couldn't be convinced to sell mine.

edit: eBay is a source... watch closely for a few months, see what they're going for, and be wary of anything going cheaper than others... there's probably a good reason for it.

Owning both a Sweedish Army Trangia (in SS & Ali) and a Zebra pot I can tell you unless there is a particular need for the form the two pots perform very much the same. I really don't think the obscene prices that people ask for the Army Trangia is really worth it.

I have both, Swiss and Swedish, the first being the "volcano stove" with the aluminium bottle and cup, the latter being the full-blown cook set with trangia-style stove, pot, pan and windshield.
A few weeks ago, I got a complete, stainless steel (!) Swedish kit from this Swedish store:

    http://store.flobyoverskottslager.se/product/enmanskok

Google translate works well, you want the €43 option ("used in good condition, stainless steel). It actually came in "decent enough" condition, i.e. all original (unlike some vendors who sell chinese replica pots + original stove), some servicable dents in the aluminium windshield, the pot and pan with bad OD paint and some discoloration inside which went away after a good scrubbing. I can add photos later if you like.

EDIT: looking at the photos on the shop's site again, mine looked a bit better than those.

The Swiss messkit follows the same kidney shaped European pattern. It is very similiar to the Norwegian pattern...only taller.

The thread reminded me of a problem with the Swedish kit, which I fixed today, so here are some photos. The stove that came with it had many cracks on the lid, so it probably would leak if packed filled with alcohol. So today I bought a proper new Trangia stove which also comes with a simmer ring for €15.

Complete set with a leather strap I had lying around:

This information comes from this website called joy of rations and this blog is part 3 of mess kits, scroll down till you see the section on Sweden

    http://joyoffieldrations.blogspot.com/2014/04/a-mess-tin-primer-part-iii.html?m=1

    SW_M40_02.jpg
"Stainless steel Kokkärl m/1940 (left) and aluminum m/1944 (right).
The two versions may be easily identified by the ridges near the top of the body: the stainless steel version has one ridge, the aluminum has two."

    I hope this helps and

GOD Bless you and your family

I have tried to buy there before.
Received a message next day and they had to add almost $70 for shipping for
two stainless kits. Apparently their shjpping calculator doesnt work for the US.
    Hope it works for you!

Since we're on the subject can anybody tell me anything about this kit? It's aluminum, kidney shaped similar to the German kits except it has no paint, no cup that nests inside(though it might have originally) and instead of a strap type handle it has a wire one. Great pot but no identifying marks at all.

Kind of looks like an Italian mess kit but I’m not sure. Checkout this page. Scroll down a bit.

I mostly bought it for the sweet water bottle with the cork stopper. At €16 the whole kit was cheaper than a new Sigg.

As a cooking kit, I dunno. If you just need to boil water, I guess its a good and compact kit. You can cook either in the cup or in the bottle and the wire hanger acts as a pot stand for the bottle. You can use it as a twig stove, but you need to keep the temperature down or the aluminum windshield can melt. I made some tea with a penny stove and it worked well (2 weeks ago in snowy and very windy conditions), but you need to drop the stove down into the windshield. I'm thinking about enlarging the hole in the shield so I can insert my new Trangia stove from the front, I think it would make it more usable.

Have you thought of picking up a German kit and modifying a Swedish cooker to work with it? Lighter for your daughter to carry.

I have had a stainless steel Swedish trangia set for about 20 years. It gets a lot of use and is handy and bomb proof. Before you melt the o ring in the burner lid pick up some extras at the hardware store. I burn Ever clear pga in mine, costs more than denatured but you can drink it,disinfect cuts, and it burns great in the trangia.

It's hard to find O rings for the military stoves. Did you find some in the US?

If you are asking about the o ring in the cap on a trangia, its just a simple o ring from the local hardware store. You could always cut a circular disk out of gasket material or even inner tube I guess. You just need to stop the leak or evaporation of alcohol. Yes.in USA

According to a note I have, the dimensions are: 47mm inside diameter - 56mm outside diameter and 4mm thick. This is the closest I can find - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NJPKFNU/ref=biss_dp_t_asn - maybe 56mm is just an off measurement. I don't know for sure as I've not bought any.

The price for 5 O-rings is close to a new Trangia - https://www.amazon.com/Trangia-Spir...&qid=1518827092&sr=8-2&keywords=trangia+stove - which is a better burner in my experience.

According the "Joy of Field Rations" blog posts about mess kits; the Austrian, Italian, and Russian kits are all essentially identical to the German style anyway.
